Relocating for Work, what about these things?
Here's the scenario: a company pays to relocate a new hire from one coast to the other. They specifically hire movers to pack their stuff up and move it. The co flies the new hire out to the area they're moving to and help them find a new apartment in their price range.
How does that persons pets and car get moved?
3 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment7 years agoMy Two Cats Started Fighting?
I've had my two cats for 7 years. They have always gotten along amazingly well - so much so that they would curl up and sleep together. They're both boys.
One of them had to spend a few days at the vet recently. When he came back, the two of them started fighting. Hissing, chasing, howling, hitting, biting, hair pulling.
I've tried keeping them completely separated with separate food, water and litter, bringing them out together for short amounts of time. That didn't work. Invariably, the one who went the the vet starts hissing at the other one which causes the other one to chase the one who went to the vet under the bed or behind the sofa or whatever.
It's been a month. I believe the situation has only gotten worse. Felaway (or however it's spelled) isn't doing anything and it's bee plugged in for over a week.
What do I do? How do I restore this situation to the way it used to be? For the record, they've both been given a clean bill of health from the vet.
3 AnswersCats1 decade agoQuestion for Police on Serial Traffic Stops?
About a year ago, I was pulled over every morning I took the Parkway to work by the same cop. I would take the parkway twice to three times a week depending on Expressway traffic. The same cop would pull me over in the same place and keep me on the side of the road for about 40 minutes. Each time this Officer pulled me over, he was in a clearly marked car and would take my license and registration. I also always drove the same car.
Each time, after the 40 minute wait (about 40 minutes, sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less), the Officer would give me back my license and registration and tell me to "Move along". Each time I would ask, "Is everything okay?". The Officer would reply by telling me something like "None of your business", "I said move along", etc. I always did my best to be respectful of this Officer - my mother works as a civilian contractor out of a different PD for nearly 20 years and I was raised to respect PO's.
This went on for about two months. It got to the point where I went to the DMV and got an abstract to verify that my DMV paperwork wasnt messed up. I've never been arrested, have a completely clean record, etc. I was also never speeding (Parkway traffic moves about 20 mph when the speed limit is 55mph, which is often better than the crawl on the Expressway during rush hour).
Each time I would get to work and check to see if I had a blown bulb and to see if I could spot any issue with my car that could have caused this. I never saw anything of the such.
This eventually stopped when I stopped taking the Parkway. In fact, I haven't been on the Parkway since then.
Could any of you provide me with some ideas on why I would be stopped like this? I considered calling the Police Department about it but, was always afraid that they wouldn't believe me since getting pulled over in the same spot on the same road by the same cop about two dozen times in a two month period without a single ticket or warning ever issued sounds... well, it sounds like a load of BS and I wouldn't believe it if it hadn't happened to me.
4 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoDeath Penalty & Religion?
Hi - looking specifically for input from our religious friends here...
I was reading an article on Yahoo! News about the death penalty in Texas and the tone of the comments quickly turned to people using Bible quotes to justify opinions both for and against the death penalty.
If you are religious, could you let me know your views on the death penalty? Do you feel it's something that is wrong or right based on your religious beliefs? Do you create a separation between your religious beliefs and your political beliefs on this issue? Finally, could you also tell me what religion you belong to?
Thank you in advance.

2 AnswersOther - Yahoo Products1 decade agoHavent been able to login to Yahoo mail for 48 hours...?
I havent been able to log into yahoo mail for 48 hours. I've attempted to login from 5 different PC's in two different locations trying three different browsers on each PC. I can apparently access yahoo mail via a mobile device, though.
The only help Yahoo has offered me so far has been a series of e-mails stating that my issue was being escalated.
I've tried dumping history, cookies and cache. I've tried reinstalling browsers and firewall settings (including router and anti-virus settings). Clearly the issue cant be my computer since it apparently doesnt matter where I attempt to login from or what sort of pc i attempt to login using (tried macs, windows pc's and linux).
I'm located in NY state. Is anyone else in this area having a problem logging into Yahoo mail?
3 AnswersNotices and Errors1 decade agoI have had three cats for the past six years....?
The oldest, my girl cat, I found on my doorstep when she was about eight months old starving to death. She's a Hemingway cat.
The other two are boy cats and I "rescued" both of them from bad situations when they were very young, maybe 6 - 8 weeks.
They all get along great.
At night, one of the boy cats sleeps on the sofa. My girl cat sleeps next to my pillow or on my pillow next to my head and my other boy cat sprawls out on top of me or stretches himself out and sleeps right up next to me.
Every night there's obligatory petting of the girl cat until she lays down. The boy cat who sprawls out on my (he's about 19 pounds but, thin) wont sleep until I put my arm around him.
They're well socialized cats who enjoy company and who have an active indoor only life with lots of toys and distractions.
So my questions:
1. Is this normal cat behavior?
2. Why does the other boy cat sleep on the sofa and not in bed with the rest of us?
3. Why do the other two sleep so close to me?

1 AnswerLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoK-9 Police Questions...?
Some K-9 Police questions:
1. Why do Police Officers go into the K-9 unit?
2. Is it difficult to get into?
3. Is the police dog a cop?
4. What happens to a police dog when it's shift is over and what happens when it retires?
5. When does a K-9 unit get called and what sorts of things do they get to do in the meantime?

5 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoForget about tv dramas, what sort of things does "Internal Affairs"...?
... really get into in a police department and do other police officers really dislike them like on tv?
My impression was that real Internal Affairs (or whatever it's really called) are there for other reasons than investigating an officer. Like if a cop is involved in a really bad call or witnesses something terrible, they work with the officer to make sure he or she isn't traumatized by it. Is that true?

6 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoQuestion for cops on gun ownership?
There's a lot of talk about people owning guns these days. For the cops on here, could you tell me what your opinion of legal gun ownership is and whether you work in an urban, suburban or rural area?
Specifically I'm interested in learning if there is a clear difference in opinion based on the type of area you patrol in.
Also, when you have a problem with a perp who is armed with a gun, is it generally a legally owned and registered gun or is it an illegally owned one?
Thank you in advance.
3 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoQuestion for law enforcement professionals: what has been your most rewarding experience in law enforcement...?
and how has it impacted your life?
4 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoSome questions for the law enforcement professionals here...?
1. Do you ever get to use the cop computer to look up your peep's to see what kind of stuff they've been involved in?
2. What do you do when you have a slow night on patrol, how do you fight boredom?
3. When you get to use the siren, how do you manage to hear your radio?
4. What sort of public relations stuff does the average police department do? Can the average joe ever get the opportunity to ride in a squad car without having committed a crime?
A friend of mine was on a business trip a couple of decades ago out in the mid west. The motel he stayed at had a thing hanging up reading "ride shotgun with [local sheriff]" or something like that so, he called and got to ride around with the sheriff for a couple of hours. This was near some small town somewhere. It sounded like an awesome experience.
A lot of jobs seem to have many fringe benefits but, the police seem to have the most - squad cars, helicopters, dogs, radios, cop lingo, etc.
3 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoQuestion on Time Dilation and the Speed of Light?
So here's the situation:
I'm on Earth and watch a ship traveling at 99.999% the speed of light for 237 years before that ship comes to a dead stop. How much time passed for the people on that ship?
Also, is there a Java applet out there that will calculate this sort of thing for me?

I'm thinking of taking a trip down to Washington DC. Can anyone recommend a hotel near the monuments? Also need to know how transportation work there? So I started playing Tabula Rasa, NCSofts sci-fi MMO, just in time for the announcement of the the game being shut down. I dont get to play much due to my work schedule and it is unlikely that I will have opportunity to finish it.
Does anyone know how this game ends? How about a URL with all the game cinematics or a video of what happens at the end of the game?
1 AnswerVideo & Online Games1 decade agoSo we illegally held all of these people in Gitmo...?
... for all this time, with some getting released at times AND we have the audacity to expect them to return to wherever it is they came from and live quiet, sedentary lives?
Right now on Yahoo, there's a story about how 11 former Gitmo prisoners are on the Saudi most wanted list.
If a people held me prisoner in a place like Gitmo for even a day, I would invest the remainder of my life in lashing out against those people.
Is anyone really surprised by this?
