Why wont undergraduate admissions look at my work experience?
I work for a biotech company and I have 2 associate degrees. I didn't do well on the first one, I graduated with a 2.2. My second is in biotechnology and I have a 2.7. Due to the first one I am having issues getting started on my bachelors. My combined gpa s a 2,43, I am not able to retake classes, they are either no longer offered or offered at times I can't take due to my job.
I have work my butt off to improve my gpa. Increasing my gpa from a 2.2 to a 2.43 in a 2 year period with taking all science classes show how much I have improved. I have found that biology is a good fit and that I am good at it.
I work closely with project management and all the labs. I also have dealt with the FDA and CDC. I understand graduate and phd schools being picky.
Its just the Undergrad admissions that should be a bit more understanding and look at more than gpa. Many of the teacher s at many colleges would love to have me in their classes due to my experience.
By the way a 2.43 is my best and college is for me. I need to progress within the company.
3 AnswersHigher Education (University +)7 years agoWhat are some colleges with low gpa requirements for graduate school?
I know radford university in VA has a gpa of 2.7 and Old Dominion's is a 2.8. What are some other colleges with gpas that low or lower
2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)7 years agoWhy is there a push for everyone to go to college? Why bother getting non technical degrees?
Not everyone wants to go to college, I know people who get good grades and yet they do not want to go to college. Their parents are forcing them to go.
If half the population gets a degree that will make education worthless. If half the population had phds that would mean all college in the U.S. is worthless. It also would make it difficult for people who want to get an education to get.
Technical degrees are the way to go. A degree in philosophy is fine when you're much much older and as a hobby. Or if it is combined with another degree.

2 AnswersSecurity7 years agoWhy is it people hold a grudge after an issue arises and forget that all relationships have their ups and downs?
A friend of mine(we have known each other for over 4 years now) and I had an issue. it deals with something that happened a month ago.she didn't tell me and I found out anyways. I sent her a message about it and now she wants nothing to do with me.
I did apologize and have tried to make things right but she wont let me. i haven't talked to her in a month to give her space.
All relationships have ups and downs. she and I have known each other long enough to have issues and arguments.
If you know someone long enough one of you will get annoyed and ticked off
1 AnswerOther - Family & Relationships7 years agoWhy do people say exercise helps with mood?
It doesn't help me out at all. I always feel like crap no matter what I do. I run miles half the week and weight lift the other and still doesnt help
2 AnswersDiet & Fitness7 years agoI have heard that some colleges will admit you on a trial basis with getting a bachelors?
Why don't all colleges do that. I mean do it on a case by case basis. For example if the person did improve but still not quite there or if they already work in industry.
1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)7 years agoWhy teach to GPA, isnt it better to teach to comprehend?
Just because you get an A or B on a test or in a class, that doesn't mean you truly and fully understood the material. In many cases all you did was to regurgitate the material. That's why I disagree with standardized tests, not every learns the same way or is capable of doing the same things.
1 AnswerOther - Education7 years agoWhy is it that people assume that I can get financial aide?
I've been turned down due to having no credit.
2 AnswersFinancial Aid7 years agoWhy is it that our school system waits so long to teach certain things?
For example, Foreign language, it's better to learn another language when you're younger.
2 AnswersPrimary & Secondary Education7 years agoIs it true that GMU wont let you graduate with a gpa less than 3.0 gpa and why is it that some of the admissions people give wrong info?
I was told that by some guy who said the admissions office told him that. I find that odd considering that would mean most of the students I've known who have graduated and recently graduated from GMU did so with a gpa less than that. If a 3.0 was required then there would be far less students graduating from GMU.
He also stated that everyone is required to take a forein language. When I looked at the gen ed requirements for the bio degree there was nothing that said foreign language is required and yet he says it is true because the admissions office person said so. I also talked to the dean of the bio department, there is no language requirement.
To me, I think many of the admissions people do not know what they are doing or what they are talking about. I have been given wrong info before, I have found that the department gives the most accurate info when it comes to degrees.
1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)7 years agoWhich physics teacher should I take at NVCC?
I need a teacher that can actually explain the material well enough. Math is not my strong suit, I have taken a calc class and the teacher was able to explain the material in such a way to where I was able to get a B in the class. She balanced out tests and homework, none of which had to be done online.

5 AnswersComics & Animation7 years agoWhy do colleges only give you more test time when you have a learning disability?
The more time I take on a test the worse I do.Typically a college will give you 3 hours to take a test in the testing center which doesn't help me. What I need is either take home tests where I can spend a week working on it or more homework.
The classes that I have done well in have given a lot of homework. Homework helps me to counteract my test grades.
Please, please don't say things like "college isn't for you", if someone wants to go to college then college is for them.

2 AnswersDrama7 years agoWhy is it people think I should go to Marymount, How am I suppose to pay for it when I can't get enough money?
It's easy as hell to get in,it only requires a 2,0 with an associates degree. Problem is that it costs $12,000 a semester for a full time student. Due to work I;d only be able to take 2 classes and that will cost about $6,000. and on top of that I would have to retake all my math and science classes, I got B's in them.
I have done the research and have found nothing that can help. Having a second job and waiting a few years are not options. At this point in my life if I stop school for a few years I would never go back.
I did apply and got in. Now here is the problem, I was only able to get about $1,000, which is a combo of financial aid and grant money. I am not eligible for any type of loan. That means about $5,000 that I would have to pay for out of pocket. I can't afford that with what I currently make.
How is it still an option? Why wont people give me an answer when I a tell them this and ask them the same questions?
I am not going to a college where I have to retake classes I already got A's and B's in. Would any of you do that?
$6,000 a semester is the most I can afford.
