Okay, so to clarify what I'm talking about: a guy in one of the "Straight Dope" message boards mentioned "writer's shows", i.e. shows that TV writers watch. It was May 2004, examples that he gave were "The Sopranos", "Alias", "The Shield" and "CSI".
