Do Mormons believe that they are the only people who follow the Lords Commandments?
Do Mormons believe that they are the only people who follow the Commandments? I have had many Mormons tell me that Christians believe that they can just "claim" to have belief in Jesus and then keep on sinning.
That is just not true, Jesus teaches this:
1 John 4:16 “And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”
1 John 4:18-19 There is no fear in love; instead, perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment.[a] So the one who fears has not reached perfection in love. 19 We love[b] because He first loved us.
I am sure most people who love Jesus feel that not being able to live with him would be a severe form of punishment.
LDS doctrine teaches one must perform certain ordinances/covenants to earn the right to live with Jesus. If they don’t do these things they will not be able to live with him.
The “good works”/keeping of commandments done by Christians comes from a show of appreciation for an already given gift (salvation including living with Jesus).
The “good works”/ ordinances/covenants done by the LDS come from a place of fear, of losing the right to live with Jesus and their family.
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoWhy do the mormons believe they must work and pay to live with God?
Why does the LDS teach that in order to live with God in the celestial kingdom that you have to have a temple recommend, complete temple rituals, pay full tithe ect.
Jesus actually teaches something very different, he said many times that "works" will not get you anywhere...
Luke 18:9-14
The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector
9 To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’
13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’
14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
Jesus even told the criminal next to him on the cross...
Luke 23:43
And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”
Why did Jesus tell him that:Luke 23:40-43
40 But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence?
Jesus said that to the criminal because the criminal believed Jesus was, who Jesus said he was.
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 17:3
And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
Matthew 25:46
And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

Question for mormons: There seems to be much confusion over D&C 132, Jsmith polyandry and mormons being servant angels to better mormons.
What is your understanding of all this?
D&C132 explains that in order to reach the highest level of heaven you must enter into the “new and everlasting covenant” to gain exaltation and become a god. Those good mormons who don’t marry in the temple will become servant angels to the lds gods.
So with Jsmith taking other worthy lds mens wives, then these men are left “unsealed” there fore not becoming gods but servant angels to Jsmith and other LDS men.
D&C 132 20-21 (please read all of 132)
http://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/132?...
Jsmith is talking here about men who have entered into the covenant of marriage.
20 Then shall they be gods, because they have no end; therefore shall they be from aeverlasting to everlasting, because they continue; then shall they be above all, because all things are subject unto them. Then shall they be bgods, because they have call power, and the angels are subject unto them.
21 Verily, verily, I say unto you, except ye abide my alaw ye cannot attain to this glory.
Why would Jsmith do that to his fellow brethren?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoMormons, do you know that Joseph Smiths’ and his many wives practiced Polyandry?
1. Polyandry: polygamy in which a woman has more than one husband.
LDS apologist Brain Hales wrote an article recently addressing the truth about Jsmith practice of polyandry. Fourteen of Joseph Smith’s plural wives had legal husbands already before being married to JS in the LDS temple. Note the women’s other husbands were alive.
Why do you think the women participated in this practice?
What Bible verses backs up the practice of polyandry?
10th LDS President Joseph Fielding Smith said, "Any young man who carelessly neglects this great commandment to marry, or who does not marry because of a selfish desire to avoid the responsibilities which married life will bring, is taking a course which is displeasing in the sight of God…There can be no exaltation without it. If a man refuses…he is taking a course which may bar him forever from (exaltation)." (Doctrines of Salvation 2:74).
Do you think it contradicts what Jesus teaches us in the Bible: It is ok NOT to marry and will not effect your salvation or rewards?
Matthew 19:9. "And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery."
10 The disciples said to Him, "If the relationship of the man with his wife is like this, it is better not to marry."
11 But He said to them, "Not all men can accept this statement, but only those to whom it has been given.
12 "For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother's womb; and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are also eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. He who is able to accept this, let him accept it."
13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoHow do you feel about being a SERVANT ANGEL to the Mormons?
According to the Mormon Doctrine section 132 :16-17
All people who have not obtained worthy LDS status, will end up being servant angles to the LDS “who are worthy of a far more, and an exceeding, and an eternal weight of glory.”
16 Therefore, when they are out of the world they neither marry nor are given in amarriage; but are appointed angels in bheaven, which angels are ministering cservants, to minister for those who are worthy of a far more, and an exceeding, and an eternal weight of glory.
17 For these angels did not abide my law; therefore, they cannot be enlarged, but remain separately and singly, without exaltation, in their saved condition, to all eternity; and from henceforth are not gods, but are aangels of God forever and ever.
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoWhy do Mormons make God an exalted man? God clearly tells us he is not man and is the ONLY GOD?
It seems like Joseph Smith couldn’t grasp who God is, so JS made God a man so Js could be comfortable with his version of god. Why do you think JS change Gods nature?
John 4:24
24"God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."
Hosea 11:99 for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee:
Numbers 23:19
God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind.
Isaiah 46:55"To whom would you liken Me And make Me equal and compare Me, That we would be alike?
Isaiah 46:99"Remember the former things long past, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me,
Isaiah 43:10
"You are my witnesses," declares the LORD, "and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me.
Isaiah 44:6
"This is what the LORD says-- Israel's King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God.
2 Corinthians 3:17
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoWhy are Mormons OK with changing Gods true character & nature, but won't allow God to change...?
For Mormons changing God's character and nature is OK, BUT God is not allowed to change the way he communicates with people?
Mormons, does this really make any sense? Mormons claim that the reason they have a prophet is because God has always spoken to men through a prophet and God is never changing. While I agree God is never changing, can't the LDS understand that changing the way one communicates DOESN'T change your character and nature?
Lds prophets have changed Gods nature making him:
1. One of many countless gods
2. Making God a man that progressed into a god
3. Saying god was actually Adam and Eve was one of his wives making him a polygamous god
4. Taught that God didn't create the earth and people, but he just organized everything, because god isn't able to create anything.
So LDS won't accept that God can change the way he communicates with people, but they are more the happy to change Gods true nature and character.
Please refer to LDS website for all above statements. These teachings were taught at one time by J. Smith and Brigham Young. Some of these teachings may not be current LDS teachings. But that only shows how EVER CHANGING the LDS god is.
