  • Can a Guardian prevent a disabled adult ward from marrying?

Hey, I need information about whether or not a family legal guardian can prevent an adult rehabbing (disabled after stroke) from marrying. My boyfriend is the ward - the guardian is his family member who is super-protective of anyone outside of the family (even inside the family!). This guardian also holds guardianship for boyfriend's 90 year old mother. This is a South Carolina guardianship.

Appreciate anyone's input with some kind of legal citation or reference to use. My future and his are at stake here and Momma isn't going to be around forever to offer hands-on care. The guardian also works full time outside ward's home and I am retired.

    Thank you one and all.

  • What causes itching scalp especially at hairline?

I've tried dandruff shampoos, coal tar shampoos, Selsun Blue, coconut & aloe shampoos, Scalpicin - but none seem to prevent the itching and _breakouts_ especially at the rear bottom & same place in the front of hairline and around ears.

This gets maddening especially when first trying to fall asleep. Can I be washing my hair too often or not enough? My water is chlorinated; could I be allergic to it? When I scratch my scalp, a white residue gets under my nails. Sebaceus glands may be working overtime, but what causes that?

Anyone with suggestions, I'd really appreciate.

I want to make a gift package for 1 dog and 1 cat, but am short on cash for ingredients. Is there one fail-safe recipe that is healthy for both dogs and cats and that they'll both love?

Thanks all - I need this recipe yesterday.

  • When asking dating/family/relationship Qs why are askers NOT giving their AGES -> ? It's so important 2 know?

I've been a continuous responder on here. I do read questions thoroughly (even if they're lengthy and sometimes poorly composed/punctuated or spelled) before answering if I choose to.

However, in order to give an informed answer, all too often the asker has made no mention of their gender _or_ their age - both of which bits of information would be so very helpful in answering. I do take the time to write a full answer most of the time, but too often my hands are tied by not having all the details to base my answer on.

Who is willing to step up and be counted with your gender and your age?

  • How to avoid using phyical plastic debit card while tranveling?

Will be traveling through several US states and may need to use my debit card occasionally. However, I don't want to have to give that piece of plastic to just anyone to use in order to charge my card. Is there some way to give out orally only the imprinted #s for verification. Also the use of a mechanical "card reader" isn't something I fancy either. How would you handle getting the charge paid for (yes I could use cash) using a debit card. I think these are fine if you KNOW everyone you use it with, but for extensive travel, there are too many opportunities to run into unscrupulous vendors. Please help & thank you all.

  • Would you as landlord rent to this tenant?

Would you rent to me with a recommendation like this from my current landlord? Names have been omitted for privacy sake, but this is the letter of recommendation I'd be using in searching for an apartment elsewhere.

    What do you think?

______(Tenant name withheld for privacy)______(Rental Property withheld for privacy)

    To whom it may concern:

The above tenant has been with the ____ complex since 2000.

She has been an exemplary tenant in every way paying her rent always on time and having acceptable housekeeping standards which meet our rigorous inspections.

She has always been a welcome part of our community because of her continued involvement with neighborhood betterment. Among her contributions were a weekly reading program for youth and a computer created quarterly newsletter inspired by local happenings in and around this complex.

We heartily recommend _____ to you as a valued tenant.

----------Site Manager's signature omitted for privacy.

  • How can we verify housing management's right to multiple inspections?

As a long-time resident of apt. in SC low income housing unit, how can we verify management's right to perform 3 inspections within a 30 day time period - with the next one within 7 days therefrom?

As a disabled senior, I'm irritated at the management's change from their initial quarterly inspections to now monthly inspections...some of which have been twice - even 3 times within a 30 day period. I find this quite intrusive. I've been here for 12 years and have never failed an inspection yet.

As some further information, this particular unit was rehabbed 3+ years ago and since then, the inspections have changed from quarterlies to monthlies _and then some._ These multiple inspections now have added the outside contracted pest management's task of reporting "housekeeping" to the management...where it was never done like this before.

At what point are we tenants just to mutely accept such infringement of our privacy or start looking for answers. I'm P*ssed and I'm tired of being so!

Thanks for your help, folks. If you need more info, just ask me for it.

  • In real estate, what does CDC mean?

In searching for rentals, I often see the letters CDC used...seemingly as a possible 'program' of some kind. Anyone know what this refers to?

  • Am puzzled. Do you adhere your home made CD labels before or after recording them with your music or voice?

I've already recorded both music and voice CDs but am wondering if it's too late to adhere my own self-made circular labels and still get them to play in players other than my own PC. I'm just not sure how this all works. Or...do I adhere those labels and then make the recording on top of labeled CDs?

Am a semi-blind gal who's not all that into technology so please give simple step by step answers. Oh, just to enlighten y'all, (some folks still think that blindness means either being hard of hearing or stupid) blindness has very little to do with one's intelligence. I wasn't always blind but think I still have some good smarts left <grin> Thanks to one and all for your help; I appreciate it a great deal.

  • HOW2 CONVERT MUSIC CDS TO CASSETTE TAPE?

My son's rehabbing from a stroke and can only use an old cassette player. I would love to send him some of my music saved on CD, but don't know how to convert it. I don't have a cassette player either. I would upgrade him if he could use it, but also am fearful of electronic equipment theft that usually runs pretty high. I'm a partially blind and disabled senior who has little to no experience doing stuff like this so any help would have to be pretty step by step explicit. Can anyone out there help me?

And thank you all in advance; I do so appreciate any and all help. Pardon my spelling or typos. While my high school touch typing teacher was a stickler for accuracy, some of it's gone by the wayside these days.

    Again, thanks and many blessings.

  • IF I invest in tax lien certificates, what happens to my $ if the county goes bankrupt?

Given that the county is mandated by law to pay a certain % to lien holders, what happens if during the redemption period and before I can foreclose - the county I invested in files for bankruptcy? I'm thinking that I'd become a debtor because I loaned the county some money, then would I have to wait beyond the redemption time and until the bankruptcy court can do its thing and forgive the county's debts? Maybe it depends on which bankruptcy is filed, but could I end up With only pennies on the dollar of my investment as one of the county's creditors? Doesn't sound as though investing in these liens is altogether "risk-less", does it, especially in light of what's happening worldwide? If nations can go bankrupt, why can't counties and/or states? Where does that leave investors?

This question has been bugging me and I've yet to find answers in any book. Please help if you can and I thank you for your best explanation.
