  • Paying by debit card over eBay?

I've purchased something over eBay and the seller had the option of paying for it with Credit Card so I took that option thinking I would just have to enter my card details in at the checkout but nothing like that came up and now I'm unsure of how I'm suppose to pay for it?

Do I send my details to the seller?

Does anyone have any idea? I'd like to get it paid for as quickly as possible

  • Lump either side under dogs jaw?

I noticed them a little a while ago and informed my Mum, who has this wait and see attitude about things, and thinks because theirs two, either side of her neck, they could be glands or something but I've not stopped worrying.

It's actually hard to describe where they are because they seem to move a lot, but they're either side of her neck, at the back under her jaw and seem to be the same size but they also change size, like getting smaller and then bigger, they're soft but not very very soft, so you can squish them a bit. you can feel them easier when she's sitting but when she's standing up/being active you can't feel them or when she's lying down out stretched.

She's only two so I'm very scared, obviously I'm making a Vet appointment regardless of what my Mum thinks (She thinks I worry too much which I suppose is true), she's insured so I'm not worried about the money or anything, I'm just wondering if anyone has heard/seen this before and what could be? I'm so scared for her.

  • Heard this about Dumbo Rats, It's not true, is it?

I know that Dumbo is just another name for Fancy rats whose eats are at the side rather than at the top and they can be found in the same litter as top ears so today when I was talking to someone about them because I may be adopting two male dumbo's next month from a breeder, when I mentioned I wanted Dumbo ears specifically because the two I have now are top eared, She told me I shouldn't because they tend to be more aggressive?

I don't believe that since they're found in the same litter and it's only the ears that are difference (and they're a little bigger, right?)

Is that true or just a myth? Surely it comes down to the handling more and genetics?

  • Bar spacing for male rats?

I'm buying my two male rats a new cage this weekend, I've found a huge cage, lots of levels and space for hammocks and toys but the bar spacing is 1inch wide, is that too wide of male rats? They're almost fully grown and quite large, but their current bar spacing is only 1.25cm.

Anyone with male rats have experience with cages? most cages labelled as Rat cages here in England aren't big enough really, IMO,

  • Rat sneezing but otherwise fine?

Basically over two weeks ago I bought two male rats, after a few days I noticed one was ill, not eating or drinking and lethargic, I took them to the Vet and they were both put on antibiotics since it was an URI which can be passed on, and he was soon feeling better, but about a week ago I noticed excessive sneezing beginning, I thought It was the bedding (I was using carefresh, which though is meant to be dust free, was actually covered in dust!) so I changed them over to shredded plain paper, he's eating fine and has put on 60 grams since he's vet visit, he's very active and playing with his brother but he's still sneezing, obviously I'm worried.

I keep looking for the red mucus stuff around his nose and eyes and don't see any but I'm not sure if that's because he's a very clean little guy.

Is it something in the bedding maybe? Or a cold or allergy? or another URI?

Should I make another vet appointment?

  • Worried about rats, bad vet care?

Basically I got my rats 10 days ago, one developed a little URI so I took them to the Vets who prescribed baytril for both, this was a 6 days ago, now I discovered that is shouldn't be given to young rats under 4 months and though I'm not sure how old my rats are exactly, I am positive they aren't over 4 months...and I told her this.

I'm just worried this could cause serious issues, I've stopped giving it to them but they've had 5 days worth of it and that could be enough to damage them for their entire life? Anyone have experience with this? What signs should I look for?

I'm also incredibly angry at my Vet, though she isn't a rodent expert surely she should have known this.

I'm so worried, I don't know what to do.

  • Rat is ill, Not sure what to do.?

I noticed yesterday that one of my new male rats (got Saturday) seemed lethargic and quieter than the other, he seems to have gotten worse over the night, he's sneezing (not much but a bit) isn't eating as much and it a little dehydrated, He sometimes hunches over and he's fluffed up which I know are all signs of pain in rat, I've booked a vet appointment for tomorrow morning but I'm so worried that it's something, I spoke to someone who knows rat and they said it could be URI from the stress of moving but I'm unsure of what I can do for the morning, I've seen him nibbling on some food and he doesn't mind being held but sits quietly in my lap after sniffing about.

I don't know what to do until the morning, is there anything I can do to help him, I'm so worried.

  • How to tell if a Rat is happy/Healthy?

I just got two young male rats, These are my first rats and I did all my research, they have a large cage with toys and hammocks, I've had them for three days and I've noticed distinct personality differences, Finny is the bigger rat and obviously more dominant but also more active, he eats more and explores the cage more and is generally more outgoing though not as friendly (He'll let you hold him and sits on your lap but prefers to be playing), Gil is smaller, quieter and friendlier but he doesn't seem as interested in toys, he eats and drinks fine but sleeps quite a bit more than Finny and is much slower moving so I'm wondering if he's happy/healthy, Is this just because of their very different personalities that I'm noticing this or is he sick or unhappy?

  • What would it mean if a dog breed is added onto the DDL?

Here in England, Staffordshire Bull Terriers have been getting some very bad press recently after a dog attack.

Many people have been talking about getting the breed put onto the Dangerous Dogs List, which I think it ridiculous and wont solve anything.

But my question is, my dog is a StaffieX, if this legislation did pass and make the breed illegal (god forbid) what would this mean for my dog? and all the other thousand of friendly family staffs out there? Would they all be seized and put to sleep?

  • Raw Food Diet? Good Idea or not?

I've been considering moving my dog onto a different food recently and whilst searching have come across the idea of a Raw food diet a few times, so many websites seem to say it will lengthen her life and improve her health but what I want to know is what does it really entail,

What sort of things do I give her and how much of it would she need? Is it really cheaper and a better option for her? Is it safe? Where do I get it from? The butchers or ...

If anybody has had/currently has their dog on this diet, could you please tell me what you think of it.

Is it something I should seriously consider doing?

  • Does my dog miss my Kitten?

I have a female SBTxRhodesian Ridgeback, she's a pretty big dog but a real softy so about 4 months ago I brought home a little kitten, They became instant best friends. They'd play together, sleep together, He'd even be really cheeky and drink out her water bowl instead of his own, she'd give him one or two of her treats instead of eating them herself (not that he ate them but it was sweet enough to watch) They were really close, but sadly around a month ago my little kitten was killed in an accident.

We let my dog see the body, which I suppose sounds stupid but we'd heard it was a good way to help dogs "get" that things were dead but even now, she searches for him when we let her upstairs and looks around in his old sleeping/hiding spots and seems sad when she can't find him. If we even mention his name in conversation her ears perk up and tail wags like she thinks he might be coming back.

Does she miss him or am I reading these signs wrong?

Is there anything I can do or should I let her get on with it until she works it out.

  • Fun tricks to teach dogs?

I have a 1yr and 6month old StaffyxRhodesian Ridgeback, she is very smart and just loves learning new tricks but it's now gotten to the point where I've run out of new things to teach her so I was wondering what tricks others have taught their dogs and whether you could recommend some fun things I could try with her to keep her entertained!

    She already knows;

    Sit

    Stay

    Come Here

    Lay Down

    Play Dead

    Hi-Five

    Shake

    Speak

    Spin

    Roll Over

Also I'll hide her toy for her and she'll go find it

I can also hide and she'll come find me.

    Thanks for any ideas!!

  • Problem with getting rid of fleas?

I used frontline on my dog when we noticed she had fleas crawling around on her belly and she was scratching more than normal, It says it should work in 48hrs and we've always used it and it's always worked but 3 days on and it doesn't seem to have done much, in fact the fleas seem even worse, we've sprayed the house with flea killer and hoovered and washed all her bedding but it doesn't seemed to be working so we're feeling a little desperate.

We're looking into buy a spray that you actually spray onto the dog to kill the fleas, has anyone used something like that before and does it work?

  • Dog having a nightmare or something else?

I have a 6month old puppy, She's pretty big already and a cross between a Rhodesian Ridge-back and a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

She's a total couch potato and spends most of her time lying across our laps chewing her favourite toys and sleeping, She's always twitches and moved around a lot while she's sleeping so we never really think much of it but today while sleeping she was twitching quite a lot more than normal and making some odd sounds. No one has seen her do this before and we're all really worried, Our Vets is closed today but we'll be calling them tomorrow to see what they think, This is just to see if anyone else has experienced it

Also recently she has been off her food but not in the way that she isn't hungry because if we give her some of her treats she eats them quickly and she hasn't said no to the odd bit of cold meat. Is this because she doesn't like her food? She's still on puppy food so should we move her onto adult food?

  • Old Hamster Gone Blind, How can I help him?

I have a very old hamster, He is around 2years 6months and I love him very much, This morning I woke up, Ready to give him some fresh water and food and found that his eyes had clouded over and he was stumbling slightly. I called up my vet who said that this often happens with older hamster and unless it looked infected or he began to look in pain, like not eating, drinking and hunching up then there wasn't much use in bringing him in but now I'm wondering is there anything I can do to make his life easier now that he hasn't got his sight?

Im really scared for him :(

  • Signs of Hip Dysplasia in Dog?

I was just wondering what the first signs of Hip Dysplasia are? I'd like to know just so I could keep an eye out for it because it is such a common problem these days in dogs that I would hate to be missing such a obvious sign in my puppy, She seems totally and completely fine now but obviously that could change at any time so knowing the first signs would really help me out.

Also if it true that crossbreed dogs are healthier, Some people say that they are while others disagree? My puppy is a crossbreed of a Rhodesian Ridge-back x Staffie though she is the size of a ridge-back puppy at the moment so would this mean she'd be healthier than a pedigree dog?

    Thanks for any information.

  • I worry I'm doing everything wrong with my puppy?

I recently got my first ever puppy and I did a lot of research before hand but now I have her and she is 12 weeks old, I love having her around and I can't imagine my life without her but I sometimes read things on the internet about raising puppies and I feel like I've done things wrong, I've taken her for long walks because she has so much energy (after she had all her injections obviously) but I've now read that that isn't a good thing due to joint problems, I've also been feeding her puppy food but apperantly that can cause joint problems due to all the extra protein and I just feel like everything I've done since I've gotten her has been wrong and I just want the best for her.

Have any of you got some advice on how I can do things correctly from now on?
