I figure skate and love it. I've been skating for a year and a half now. Well, except for the fact that i have a sprained back and my ankle and neither will get better. My ankle has been sprained for nearly a year now and my back for 4 months. So i'm waiting to see why right now. Well, getting to some positive things about me now, lol. I'd love to become an ER doctor/surgeon. I love anatomy, biology, math, etc. My biggest hope is to go to Princeton for undergraduate classes and Harvard for Medical College. I'm currently a sophomore in high school. I do a lot of early planning now. I've learned from my mistakes of just waiting for things to happen. I love the movie Cars and Up, lol. And i love being creative and organized. I take French and love it. I'd much rather take Italian but most schools don't offer it... My favorite bands/singers are The Fray, Barlowgirl, Taylor Swift, and Carrie Underwood. I'm a Catholic and i love God, he is my best friend.

  • Question on handwritten business letter?

I'm writing a handwritten thank you card for an audition and interview. But I wrote the wrong word and this is my last thank you card. I suppose the word will fit in the sentence... but it's a bit distracting from the point. I can't go to the store and get more because I have a TON of homework and I'm already behind... not to mention broke. Should I leave it as is or use white out???

And no I'm not typing it because then I would just have to add a bunch of meaningless junk to it, and handwritten is more personal (this is for a small university and very important scholarship.

    What should I do?

  • Help, I'm so bored and unmotivated?

So, this week is exams week, meaning that we take a couple exams and then get out of school really early. Usually, I go to work right after school but now I've got like 4 hours in between the two. I'm not used to having this much time. I'm so bored that I started reading a book (which is really unusual for me because I really don't like reading). Please help.

I need something meaningful and new.

And no, apps or games aren't meaningful. And I only have one more exam tomorrow and its really easy, so no need to study. Please help and motivate me. I'm so unmotivated that I'm too lazy to take my sleep medication.

  • Should I include this in my list of activities for college apps?

I already have a three activities on my applications, but none of them are related to my school (figure skating, serving at my church, and babysitting). I didn't participate much in my school, but I did join Socratic club sophomore year and joined it again senior year, but dropped out due to lack of time.

When I go to college I plan to be very involved, at the very least in a sorority or a singing group.

And I'm already in good academic standing straight A's and B's, most A's if it helps. Also, I am 25/119 in my class ranking.

    Should I mention Socratic Club?

  • Is my foot/toe broken?

My sister threw my textbook to me a couple days ago and I failed to catch it and the corner of it fell directly on my foot/toes. Very painful.

I've had a very noticeable bruise there will some swelling. Although the swelling has gone down by now.

It's sometimes it hurts a lot, but other times it doesn't. Tonight it was bothering me a lot and when I got home I looked at my foot and an orangish-brownish (like rust) spot was there with the bruising. Not your typical bruise. Also, the pain is very different than a bruise.

I know it's not a major break, but I think I might have a hairline fracture or something like that. What do you think? And will it heal on its own?

  • How to make my application stand out?

I'm hoping to go to the University of Denver for college next year. I've worked hard throughout high school to get straight A's and B's (3.8-3.9 gpa currently). I switched from regular math to honors math junior year and am currently doing well (I'm a senior now). The problem is that my involvement and leadership roles aren't great. I've done multiple things, but haven't had commitment to them (other than academics). I've done a lot of volunteer work in the past 4 years, but I've only been in a few clubs and have been on and off with those. I would have joined more clubs throughout high school, but I wasn't very good at making friends, so I had trouble getting connected to a club, and I dropped them. It wasn't until this year that I've been more confident and social. Over the the summer I volunteered for kids with speech problems and finally landed a babysitting job (everyday after school). I love the job and I do very well. Since I started, the parents told me that the kids have been much more manageable and in better moods.

Once I'm committed to something I can do very well at it, I just had trouble finding something to be committed to until now. But how do I note this in a college application without making it look like I'm making excuses? Or rather, how do I put this info together to look impressive?

Also, my ACT and SAT scores aren't IMPRESSIVE. They're okay, but not great: 24 on the ACT and 1090 on SAT (math+critical reading).

  • Am I a bad babysitter, or does this sound normal?

So, I'm new to babysitting. I have a lot of experience with kids through volunteer activities, but it's a bit different. I just got a job as an as-needed babysitter. I babysit two boys ages 4 and 5 (to make explanation easier: 4-Nick 5-Jeremy). I babysat for the first time 2 weeks ago, and it went pretty well, at bed time I had to bring out a bit of a strict voice because it was past their bedtime already, but other than that it was fine.

    So here's the situation:

This time, the parents had friends come from another state and they brought a five year old boy (I'll call him Matt). The parents asked if I was okay to watch him as well and I said yes. Unfortunately, he didn't really get along too well with Nick and had different needs and bed time. The boys had missed their naps that day, so they were more cranky.

It was for three hours and we had a few problems. I took them outside, but it started to rain so I told them to go back inside. They ran upstairs and went into a room and locked the door. I told them to open the door several times and no one came. I called the mom and she told me where the key was, but they then opened the door. I gave them a stern talking to and took them downstairs.

Later, Nick pooped himself and took him to the bathroom to clean him up. But while I was doing that, Matt and Jeremy started fighting. I gave them both time outs, and they were fine after that. They wanted popcorn, but I said that they had to be very good for 20 minutes first. I made them popcorn then, and got them ready for bed.

All went well, it was a little crazy, but I finally did it. I thought they were asleep, so I went downstairs to start cleaning up. But Jeremy and Nick started fighting over stuffed animals. I went up and down the stairs several times trying to find the requested stuffed animal, but couldn't find it. I told him that I brought up a bunch of stuffed animals to share, but Nick kept fighting. They were being very loud, and were keeping up Matt, and they kept it up for at least 10 minutes, too.

Finally, I had to bring out my strict (and I guess kinda mean, too) voice and they finally stopped. Not too soon after, the parents came home and all of the kids were calling for mommy. Nick was really happy when I was alone with him reading stories and playing before bed (probably because he was used to having all of the attention on him, and didn't like to share it), but was upset that he'd been kept up. I don't know what I could have done about Nick, I guess he was just extra cranky because of having company over, but I feel like should have done more.

What should have I done, and would you consider me a bad babysitter?

  • Should I have followed up?

I was able to find a job as a BACK-UP babysitter. I was needed last weekend and babysat for the first time. I talked to the parents afterwards (I'd put the kids to bed so they were asleep by now) and they said they would give my information to others on the street who are always needing babysitters. But I haven't heard anything back from them yet. Did they talk to the kids and they didn't like me? Or is it normal for them not to have said anything since? Or should I have followed up with some kind of thank you? And should I still?

  • Talking to parents about babysitting, does this sound alright?

I talked to the mom on the phone and now we're just going over a few more details. I don't want to sound stupid and I'm very short for my age 4'9" at 17 years. And I just wanted to warn them in advance so they don't worry (mom just asked if it was alright to meet at their house):

Yes, I can come to your house. Don't be surprised, I'm a little short for my age (17), but I'm still very responsible. I'm looking forward to meeting you and your family!

Does that sound okay, or do you really think that I shouldn't warn them about my height in advance?

  • Got in an accident two weeks after i got my license?

I was sitting at a red light when a guy came up and hit me from behind. He was looking down because he was trying to pick something up and stopped too late. I wasn't at fault for the accident. I pulled over to a sears near by. I got his name, phone number and license plate number (I wasn't sure what else I needed and my parents weren't answering their cellphones so I decided that that should be enough info. So no insurance info or pictures.) My bumper had a few scratches and a small dent so I didn't think it was necessary to call the police or anything. We are thinking of going to police station and reporting the accident. If we do, will I get points on my license? Will it get revoked? And will our insurance rates go up?

We tried calling the guy, but he would not give any insurance information, therefore assuming he has none.

Also, I'm about 17.5 year old, no prior accidents or issues.

Note: I didn't make any sudden stops, I'd been sitting at the light for at least 20 - 60 seconds before he hit me. There were also cars in front of me so moving forward was not much of an option, even if I had seen him coming.

  • Which words are omitted in Japanese?

So I'm learning Japanese right now. I was wondering which words in a sentence are ommited. I know if the topic is implied, it can be left out. But what if you were trying to say something like:

    私のあには彼のコンピューターを売る。

(My brother is selling his computer.)

My grammer could be completely off, but which words should be omitted in this sentence? Should "watashi no" be ommited (since it's not a subject)? And should "kare no" also be ommited?

  • How to determine the Exponential function?

Determine the exponential function whose graph contains the following points:

    (-1,3/5) and (2,75)

So I know you need to substitute, which I've done. And I'm at this point:

    3/5 = (75a)^(-1/2)

Where I'm stuck is that I don't know how to distribute the exponent -1/2 over 75a. If someone could tell me how that be great!

Lately I've noticed my news feed is getting pretty dead. I'm looking at my friends online right now (it's 10:30pm) and there's like only losers on. So are people ditching facebook for twitter?
