  • How to tell if jailbreak is tethered or untethered?

Recently I bought a jailbroken iPhone 3g, but I'm really inexperienced in the jailbreaking world. Is there a way to figure out if it is tethered or untethered? If I try to reboot my iPhone and it turns out that it's tethered, what program do I need to reboot it correctly?

  • Should I take school-sponsored driver's ed or other?

It's time for me to start driver's ed soon, but I'm not sure which drivers ed to take. My school sponsors this online driver's ed, but it doesn't seem that high quality. Here is the website for it: acedriversed.com. Does it look okay to take? Or should I find a different one? Through my school, it's only $70 for online ed. What do you think?

  • Is there a use for a freezer in cold places?

Would you need a freezer in a place where the temperature is way below freezing, like -30 to -60 degrees Celsius? Could you use it to protect food from bacteria? Some bacteria have endospores, which allow them to survive freezing. If some fell onto food, it could thaw later.

  • Someone purposely cut down hummingbird nest?!?

So recently, there was a hummingbird nest in a tree next to my house. Everything seemed fine, but the tree was in a place very open, so someone could just walk onto my property over to it. But today, when I went to check it, someone cut it down! It wasn't an accident. The branch looked like it was cleanly cut, and right near the nest. We couldn't find any eggs that dropped out. Why do you think this happened? Who would do something like this?

  • Why is DVD drive buzzing loudly?

Today, I put a disk into the dvd drive of my desktop computer to rip it using DVDShrink, and when it was analyzing and backing up, the dvd drive was buzzing loudly. I assume that this is because of the dvd spinning really fast, because when I touch the place where i insert dvds (I have a slim laptop type dvd drive) its vibrating, apparently because of the dvd spinning. What can I do to resolve this? This has never happened before, and its not the initial "startup buzz". Is it because the platform thing for the dvd if loose? I've had this computer for about 1 or 1 and a half years.

  • What pot should I use to make dye?

I have a project where we have to dye fabrics and make a flag, but I have never done this before. I read online that when you make dye or dye something, the pot you use to make the dye should not be used for cooking anymore. However, I do not have any extra pots that I am willing to use, and it would be hard for me to find a used pot for me to use. What should I do? Should I just try to find a used pot and recycle it after I'm done?

  • Can you change amount of pain of a cut?

Today, I had a bee sting, and I was pressing down with my nail on the skin near it, making pain to cover the sensation of the first pain. Whenever I have a small cut or the like, this seems to lessen the pain. Why is this? Does the new pain cover up the new sensation of a different pain? Does it just trick my brain?

  • How to link Bill Me Later and Paypal?

I used ebay for the first time ever, and I pressed "checkout as a guest". Then, I chose the Bill Me Later option, and I entered my name, last 4 digits of SSN, phone, etc. And they sent my first statement through the mail, also telling me that all other statements will be online. I created a Paypal account today to link it to Bill Me Later, but when I went to billmelater.com/linkpaypal, I ended up with the message, "Sorry, looks like you can't link your accounts right now based on the information you provided." or something like that. Why is this? Did I enter something wrong? I just tried it at BillMeLater.com, but I don't think I have a user/pass for that yet. I have an account number, though. What should I do?

  • Is it okay to eat this strawberry jam?

I bought some strawberry jam at the store, and when I put the bag with the jam in the trunk, I accidentally put it too close to the edge. The trunk of my car has no barrier to make sure nothing falls out when you open it (a toyota 4runner). When I opened the trunk at home, it fell out and shattered on the driveway, which just had some dust. Now, it didn't shatter completely. I have already thrown away the part of the jam that actually touched the ground, but is it okay to eat the jam that wasn't close the the walls of the jar? How can I make sure that I don't actually eat any tiny pieces of glass? Is it okay? What do you think?

  • Should I get internet only?

I live with a roommate in Southern California, and right now we have at&t's dsl basic plan, which is only like seven hundred something kb per second, suuuuuper sloooow. This is bundled with a home phone, too. However, since we both have cell phones, my roommate thinks that we should just cut off at&t and find a provider with an internet only plan. Right now, we are considering Time Warner Cable (but if you have a better suggestion, please leave a tip in you answer). I know that after a year, the cost of internet with twc will get higher, so do you think we should do this? Would it be okay for phone calls usually for land lines, like announcements and stuff, to be called to our cell phones instead of a home phone? Would we be able to get along without a landline? Do you think I should just get AT&T dsl with no home phone, which I saw on their internet site, instead?

  • Why is there a rumbling in my ear?

Yesterday, I realized my ears had some excess earwax and was oily, so while I was taking a shower I let the water come directly into my ear. After I dried my ears with my towel, it felt like there was water in my ear. I was too lazy to put more water in and try to get it out that way, so I just slept on that side to try to make it drain out. This morning, the feeling was not there any more, but when I move my head far back and forth, I hear this weird rumbling or fluttering sound. There is no pain. What could it be? Do I need to see a doctor? What should I do to get rid of this?

  • Where can I buy these macadamias?

My cousin traveled to Hawaii recently and brought back Hawaiian Host Macadamias glazed with Kona Coffee. I would like to know where I can buy these here. I live in Southern California. I am specifically looking for these kinds of macadamias, because other Hawaiian Host macadamias can be found in some stores near me, but I can never find this kind. I would like it to be a store I can actually go to, not an internet site, please.

  • How much is an old Bell & Howell camera worth?

I was at an estate sale, and they were selling an old camera. I think it is a Bell and Howell 8mm Home Camera, based on the photo from wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Bell_%26_Howell_...

I remember that on the front, there is what I think is a viewfinder, with a red rectangle and a yellow rectangle on the viewfinder (front). There is a crank on the side like in the photo. On the front, there is a triangular part like in the photo, with three lenses. One had a green circle around it, one red, and I think one yellow. It also came with a sepia filter. How much would this be worth if I tried to resell it? It was in good condition for something that old, with scratches. It was selling for 25 dollars, and I think I can lower it down to 20 dollars. Would I make a profit if I bought it and tried to sell it? Should I sell it right away, or put it in a safe deposit box and wait a few years?

  • How can I check what happened to a reported question?

I would like to know how I can check what happened to a question I reported. A few months ago, I reported a question that could lead to illegal practices, and I'm not sure what happened. Also, how do I know if my community influence has been affected? I wouldn't want my influence to be reduced because I was the only one to report a question.

  • Do you know what "elites" are?

Sometimes, when I walk around campus, I hear people referring to "elites", but I'm not sure what they are. All the clues I have so far are:

    1. It's something you wear

    2. Both guys and girls can wear them, but one guy was surprised that girls wear them

    3. I think it's kind of expensive

    4. I think they come in different colors

    5. It seems like it's not a nerdy thing

I suspect that they may be watches, or shoes. Thanks!
