Rabies? Soap? Just Thirsty? What's the foam around my doggy's mouth?
I let my dog outside to go poddy (fenced in backyard). I thought I'd leave him out for a while to enjoy the nice day, since it's usually cold and rainy. Well, I put out a milk bone treat on the patio, then went back inside. He came up on the patio and ate it.
While he was eating, his mouth was foaming. A lot.
So I thought he might just be thirsty (since he drinks a lot). Well, I put out a bowl of water. He won't drink.
So, now I'm worried. I don't know why his mouth is so foamy. Could he have eated something outside? I don't have any soap out there that I know of... maybe he tried to drink the pool water?
I hope it's not rabies. It shouldn't be... I think he's already had his rabies shot.
Should I take him to the vet as in to the vet emergency hopital today... or can I take him on Monday when I can get an appointment for his normal vet? Or should I not be worried. Is this normal?
Currently, my baby is laying down on the patio. I don't see any foam now.
Opinions?
Oh... and my baby is a blue tick hound/black lab mix. And he's under a year old.
However, my husband is worried about his food being contaminated. Just hit the news a few minutes ago...
