Im writing a 2000 word essay on hip hop for my literature class. I want to prove that there is a connection between today's rap and poetry from hundred of years ago. Anything helps guys! Thanks!

This is what I think of rap today: Selfishness, Sex, Drugs, Freedom, Arrogance, Dominance
Why do people rap today? Is it because they want freedom? Do they want to assert their dominance? Do they want to express their feelings?
