If someone sees an after image, does it show up on a brain scan?

I'm reading a philosophy paper, and I was wondering...

If someone is seeing an after image, are parts of the brain activated that can be seen using brain imaging techniques? If someone is observing a colored after-image, are the V1 and V4 areas of the brain activated?

Thanks in advance.

If someone is shown a colored item, then yes, the areas of the brain will be activated. But what about if they see an after image (that is not physically there)?

Sometimes people listening to music have MRI scans that light up the brain.

Perhaps sight uses the same principles ?

Great Question.

Best Wishes.
