Individuals who consume high-calorie breakfasts and light evening meals are more likely to lose weight than those who eat light morning meals and large dinners, according to a study in the journal Obesity.
From June to October 2012, researchers from Tel Aviv University enrolled 93 overweight and obese women in a three-month, 1,400-calorie-per-day diet. The women, who were all in their mid-40s, had metabolic syndrome, a term associated with a cluster of health conditions related with Type 2 diabetes. The researchers divided the women into two groups:
Breakfast group (BF) participants ate 50% of the daily allotted calories at breakfast, 36% at lunch, and 14% at dinner; and
Dinner group (D) participants ate the opposite—14% of their calories at breakfast, 36% at lunch, and 50% at dinner.
After 12 weeks, the researchers discovered that:
BF subjects lost an average 19.1 pounds, while the D group lost just 7.9 pounds;
BF subjects trimmed 3.3 inches from their waistlines, compared with 1.5 inches in the D group;
Body-mass index declined 10% in the BF group and 5% in the D group;
Average triglyceride levels fell by 34% in BF subjects and increased 15% in D subjects;
Total cholesterol declined in both groups, but HDL levels—so-called good cholesterol—increased only in the BF group; and
The BF group had lower glucose and insulin responses after lunch, suggesting that a high-calories breakfast helped participants maintain stable insulin levels, researchers said.

Great point, but I am not 100% sure
