Can child support be reduced when the child comes to live with the parent whose paying?
My stepson came to live with us about 6 months ago. He has a sister who still lives with her mother. My husband is still paying child support for both. He has asked for a modification and has a court date in May. Can the payment be reduced if he is living with us? Also, the mother makes more than my husband. Could it be that she would have to pay him?

Everything has to be court mandated. You can't just decide it then act on your decision. Discuss these things when he goes to court and if he is a good judge then he'll make the proper changes. If you don't do what is in the first order then the ex can really take him apart. Don't give her any amunition. Just make sure that all of this is addressed on the day of court.

WELL THIS ONE IS A FUNNY ONE IS THE CHILD THERE FOR 6 MONTHS BECAUSE OF VISITATION OR DID THE FATHER GET CUSTUDY IF THE FATHER GOT CUSTUDY OF THE SON THEN YES IT CAN BE REDUCED LOWERED OR EVEN STOPED , AS FOR HER MAKING MORE MONEY ETC WELL THEY MAY CONCIDER THAT AS WELL BUT DID SHE RE MARRY ADN ARE YOU AND THE SONS FATHER MARRIED , IF SO WEL THE CHILD SUPPORT CAN BE LOWERED OR RAISED SENCE THEY WILL CONCIDER THAT EACH OF THE PARENTS HAS ACCESS TO MORE INCOME , SENCE U BOTH AE MARRIED IF THATS THE CASE THEYLL CONSIER YOUR INCOME AS WELL FOR THE SIMPLE FACT YOUR INCOME MAY COVER RENT AND HIS THE BILLS LEAVING X AMOUNT LEFT OVER AFTER FOOD COST OF LIVING ETC . BUT EVERY STATE HAS DIFFRENT WAYS OF DEALING AND ORDERING CHILD SUPPORT ETC , THE OTHER THING IS WITH INCOME TAX COMING UP U NEED TO FIND OUT IF U CAN CLAIM THE SON AND MAKE SURE THE MOM ISNT OR BOTH SIDES CAN BE IN TROUBLE WITH THE IRS
THE OTHER THING IF HE HAS BEEN LIVING WITH THE FATHER FOR 6 MONTHS BECAUSE DAD GOT CUSTODY THEN MOM MAY HAVE TO PAY THAT BACK BECAUSE CHILD WAS NOT THERE , BUT WHY BIKER OVER THAT WHEN THE ONE WHO SUFFERS IS THE CHILD .IF DAD CAN TAKE CARE OF THE KID FOR 6 MONTHS ADN STILL PAY CHILD SUPPORT EVEDENTALLY HE MAKES ENOUGH TO DO IT OH BY THE WAY IF THE CHILD IS THERE JUST BECAUSE OF JOINT CUSTODY I DONT THINK THERE MUCH THAT CAN BE DONE EXCEPT THAT THE DAD WOULD ONLY HAVE TO PAY HALF OF THE FULL AMOUNT OF CHILD SUPPORT FOR SAY 300 WAS ORDERED FOR LIL CINDY AND JOHNY BUT JOHNY LIVES WITH DAD FOR 6 MONTHS WELL THAT MEANS DAD AMY ONLY HAVE TO PAY 150 FOR SIX MONTHS UNTILL SON GOES BACK TO MOMMY , AND IF U Have kids together the child support will remain the same for the 2 kids no matter what

yes the child support should be dropped for the child that he has. when they figure the child support up they go by both incomes. plus they also can go by if she or he is remarried g/bfriend income just as well guys get hit harder with support then want a woman does.doesnt really matter on how much she makes. and to be all honest with u i think since they each have a kid and i feel sure the kids spend time with both parents there should be no need to have child support to start with. there both sharing the responsibility.

If one of the kids lives with you, the support gets reduced. He is living with you now, and you guys provide him with clothing, food etc. The support being paid to his ex is now only required to support one child. If by chance both of the kids come to live with you someday, she will have to pay support for the kids.
If she makes more than your husband, it should be greatly reduced!!
Good luck in court.

The child support on the child that is now living with you can be dropped. You can also file for child support on the child that is now living with you especially since the mom makes more than the dad.

yes I know it's your money also but don't get all emotionally sucked up into that mess all it is is a way for your ex and his ex to continue being emotionally enmeshed they are both adults who knew that once that child was born they would be responsible and that includes financially for eighteen years regardless of who is sleeping with whom or taking the money and partying instead of buying halloween costumes wah wah wah it is drama you shouldn't concern yourself with except to help soften the blow to the child who has to hear about greedy *** mom and lazy *** dad and made to suffer thru bs adult games like this is your shirt at this house but you can't take it to your mom's house. The child's lifesyle and welfare are the issue not money, yes the child support will most likely be reduced so the child can experience further negative consequences by the money focused parent who loses

Child support is to be payed to the parent with whom the child resides.
If there are two children and one lives with one parent and the other child lives with the other parent, each parent might have to pay child support for the child not living with them to the other parent.
Depending on the settlement she might have to pay child support to her former husband for the child now livin gwiht him, he still will have to pay child support for the child still living with her.

The judge may order that neither pay support being they both have one child
