Do certain breeds of cats "talk" more than others? I've heard white cats (pink ears!) are the most vocal.

Siamese and any of the other Oriental breeds are the most vocal. Your cat may be related to a Siamese but their voice is unmistakable. It's not your run-of-the-mill "meow". It's more like a "mrrrraaaaoooooowwww". LOL! The Oriental Shorthair was created from a Siamese cat. They come in every color under the rainbow, including all white. In fact, a white Oriental shorthair is one of the only blue-eyed white haired cat that is not deaf. Most white cats with blue eyes are deaf. Very rare and special indeed. Ears would have nothing to do with how social your cat is.

Siamese breeds are famously social. some symptoms your cat may be part siamese are if it meows back at you alot when you talk or meow at it, the cat loves being held like a baby, and plays fetch with its toys (my cat retrieves toys I throw). She also loves sleeping near me and is asleep on my feet as I type. I thought my Siamese was unique but as I did more research on the breed I found that many social traits are common throughout all Siamese breeds. There are several different breeds and looks of Siamese (not just the lady and the tramp variety). Check out some Siamese cat resource pages and see if the traits in your cat sound familiar.

Siamese cats are supposed to be the most vocal cats! They like to talk up storms and they they have A LOT to say. My family all have siamese cats and they are all chatty and really loud.

I have a white cat with pink ears (he's a cutie!) and he is vocal, but not overly annoying like a Siamese. He usually just answers me when I talk to him.

Siamese... Are known for being very vocal, but I have a couple of cats that are just ordinary domestic short hairs and they are very vocal... It depends on the cat... They all have such different personalities. I have a total of 6 indoor cats ..

Siamese talk a lot they are very vocal.If your cat is white and has pink ears does'nt mean that it is vocal maybe that's just your cat.

My white cat (he's deaf, one blue eye, one green eye) is VERY vocal, maybe it's due to the deafness? He has pink skin but is totally white otherwise. His sister is also white and deaf, and her owners say the same thing, that she is really vocal. My kitty looks up at the ceiling for no reason and lets out a horn-blasting "Woo!" just for the heck of it..he loves doing that. Very vocal.

Cats That Talk

I don't think breed has anything to do with it. I think it's individual personality and how they are raised. I have a tortie that likes to talk to me -- sometimes she's very vocal, sometimes she's not. I have three almost-grown kittens from the same litter, and my boy talks a good bit (balinese), my littlest girl (tabby/javanese) talks a LOT (and LOUD), and my other girl (balinese) speaks in a tiny little voice only once in a while.

Siamese, Balinese and Javanese are the most vocal breeds of cats. I don't think coat color factors much into the equation.
