My cat keeps climbing on the car engine...what to do?
When i park my car and the engine cools down, my cat will climb up from the bottom of the car and apparently rest on top of it....when I began to back out of the driveway yesterday, she scampered down and out the wheel well.....a close call......today i opened the hood and there she was again with only 8 lives left...plus she gets so greasy , I have to bathe her because I'm afraid if she licks oil and gas, she will get sick but she hates soap and water. How do i stop her from being a 'motorhead'?

keep her inside. but if thats not an option then be sure and honk your horn a few good blasts before you start the car. this will give her time to move.

Definitely keep her inside. Even if you keep her away from your car by putting it in your garage she can still crawl into someone elses car. It is very dangerous because if she gets too close to the fan then that is the end of your kitty.

If you love your cat........keep her inside.
Then you don't have to worry about her getting injured or licking gasoline and oil off herself.
So many people talk about their cats being a part of their family and say they love them like their own children. Would you take your three year old and leave him/her outside all night? Of course not!
Some say their cats howl and whine to go outside and it drives them crazy. Too bad!
Many cats prefer to stay inside. Mine was born feral and he has made a great transfer to being a house cat.
Remember we are caretakers of animals. Not "owners". We have to think of what is in the best interest of an animal. Leaving them outside to fend for themselves, is not what a caregiver would do.

Does your car have a panic button? If not, honk the horn. It won't take more than a few days before she finds some place better to hide. Cats like to hide in places where they can see all around, so maybe you could put something out there she'd like better.

All you can do is try to keep her away from your car. She probably likes the warmth of the engine after it cools enough that it won't burn her. We once found a kitten under our hood that had probably stowed away for miles.... fortunately he was unharmed, and became a charming pet for my aunt.

I agree with everyone else. Keep her inside. That would be so devastating to crank up the car one day and hear the poor kitty screaming........

keep your cat INSIDE! then you won't have to worry the only way a cat should be outside is if you take it out with a harness and a leash.

Keep her in side or make sure she does not have access to your car. keep it in the garage
