Why is the 2004 movie called Ladies in Lavender?

After watching the movie, we have no idea why it's titled that way. The ladies never once wear lavender, Lavender is NOT the name of a town in Cornwall (at least not recognized by any mapping website) and there's no fields of lavender displayed prominently in the movie. Can you help our insatiable curiosity??

I saw that movie by the way, loved it (I love all sundance film movies), but truthfully I have no idea why it is called that. Lavender must mean something else other than the obvious, but I don't know what it would be. Put this site in your web browser: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ladies_in_lavender

and it brings up the movie poster for it. And if you notice, the characters on the poster are in lavender. Sorry I couldn't help much.
