How Can I Overcome Caffeine Addiction?

I've tried cold turkey. I've tried easing myself off.

Like others, I get the typical withdrawl symptoms.

I've read lots of information from the internet, etc and I understand that the withdrawl symptoms go away after 5 days of non-use, but short of having someone lock me in a room with no access to caffeine for 5 days, how do I kick it to begin with?

Did that make sense?

Notes:

- I have read wikipedia, how stuff works, etc. so please don't repost that info.

- Smart remarks / lame answers (like "2 points") will be ignored for good or bad.

- If anyone cares to delve into another can of worms, given the prevalence of caffeine-based products in America, what are some ideas for staying off caffeine if I am able to kick it?

    I did it cold turkey

    How come you had trouble?

It means a week of being completely messed up, but then you are better after that.

If you kick it, you don't actually NEED to stay OFF it - I still drink the occasional coffee - unless, of course, you need to stay off it for health reasons such as to avoid heart palpitations or some such.

Talk it over with your doctor.

It may be possible to tee up some medication to help you get over the withdrawal symptoms - some valium and maxolon or something to help relax you.

Get a friend or two (or three) to help you - get rid of your coffee, coke, tea, and chocolate and if you are really having trouble give someone your wallet and keys.

Drink water - plenty of water - have a bit of your valium and your maxolon ready - play computer games or watch DVD's or something to occupy your time.

You'll get over it. It's hard, but it is worth it.

Be desperate... and picture of ways plenty money you may shop in case you will drink water.. think of of a few thing you need to purchase from saving money and not dropping it to a pair risky drinks. think of your self having a huge tummy once you attain your 40's and you does no longer extra healthy to an XXL american length blouse. And once you pass to Asian international locations you may no longer purchase keepsake blouse reason you would be XXXL in Asian length and that they only don't have that length. each and every time you desire to drink grab a clean juice as a replace of soda. coffee two times an afternoon is all proper yet decide for the coffee with antioxidant.

I just stopped taking caffeine altogether. I had severe headaches for a few days but it worked.

What worked for me....I reduced my caffeine intake in half and drank a lot of water in its place.
