yes they can tell time in a sense as not the time of looking at a clock.. my cats wake me up every day around 6am that is feeding time to them not matter what day it is. my husband told me he knew exactly when i was coming home. the cats would all go and sit by the door and with in two minutes i would be walking in the door. if your husband leaves at 5am did he used to feed her. if so then maybe he should continue to do so. i belives she wants fed thats what mine always want.

That is so funny. My kittens will wake me up around 5am unless I keep them out of my bedroom. The only advice that I received for the same issue was from a dog person who had to keep her dog awake later at night so that it would sleep in later. Besides that, I would ask your husband to close the bedroom door and keep the cat out.

They can't read clocks, but they do have a time sense. Cats also read activities and other cues very well, so it might be your husband leaving that tells the cat what time to wake you up.

It sounds like your cat is hungry and wants you to provide food. If this is the case, maybe your husband could feed it in the morning. Otherwise, I'm stumped. We've never let the cats in our bedroom, but they sit outside my bedroom door and cry until I feed them if they get hungry. I give them a small meal late at night and they usually let me sleep until 8 at least.

Cats tend to start that kind of thing around that time because they want to eat.If you get up and feed the cat you should be able to go back to sleep.

cats have a routine and they know what their owners are up to. Our cat knows when I get up at 3 am he gets food. If I am off work and 3 am comes and his dish is LOW, he will yowl until one of us gets up to put something in it ( he thinks it is empty if there is a hole to the bottom)

They soon get used to our schedules..Even thought they can't "tell time"!
I would say if you dont wanna get up with him batting you in the head..Maybe have your hubby put him outta the room when he leaves!

I think they just get used to our schedules.
when i used to work at 7am my cat would get me up every morning at 5:45 -5:50 every morning. Even on my days off. Drove me crazy. And now i work nights. And he does it to my husband :P i love him.

I don't think it's as much telling time as it is a routine associated with certain reaccurring events in your cat's day.
Get up, go to the bathroom, then go back to bed. Break the routine.
