I saw the question about Saddam not attacking the US and must ask for some opinions.?

Saddam never attacked the US so does that mean that the US should never attack him? If so it would stand to reason that the US should have never attacked Hitler either, is this the opinion of most of the people here?

Saddam did advocate the destruction of the US where as Hitler was less vocal on this issue.

Update:

Southern Dem. I understand that but Germany never attacked the US so what you say holds no water here.

Update 2:

The US knew nothing of the death camps until well after Normandy so the issue of Jewish extermination had nothing to do with the attack on Germany.

Prior to WW2 Hitler rebuilt the German wehrmacht against the Treaty of Versailles. The world rmained silent and allowed him to expand his armies until he was uncontrollable even though they had a decade in which to stop him.

Iraq claimed to have WMDs and the UN permitted dual use technology for peaceful purposes provided he allow UN inspectors, the head weapons inspector predicted Iraq would have nuclear arms by 2005. Saddam kicked out the inspectors and when they returned there was no more WMDs and no more dual use technology. Iraq had atttacked a US ally and was threatening Israel and calling for the destruction of the US.

The UN granted permission for force to stop Saddam, extending it twice. The US did not allow it to be extended a third time.

An apt comparison except for the fact that Germany did declare war on us after we declared war on Japanese (not the other way around mrlebowski99). I support the cause in Iraq. I have believed that Saddam needed to be removed from power since 91. However, I do not believe that Iraq posed a significant threat to the United States and I believe the administration was over reaching by rolling terrorism into the justification argument, especially when we had ample justification without inventing anything new to support our position.

So the attacks on US ships in the North Atlantic didn't happen?

The Axis ally Japan didn't attack Pearl Harbor?

Hitler and his allies did attack the US and our interests.

Who could blame Saddam for being pissed that he was attacked by Bush 41 for what in his eyes was reclaiming Iraqi territory. He was also pissed that when he asked the west if they would act if he reclaimed Kuwait into Iraq, as it had been a part of Iraq prior to British colonial rule.

Good point..I think Saddam was a horrible person and needed to be taken out-but Hitler and him were not the same, Hitler was trying to erase an entire race (Jewish People) and Saddam was cruel and sadistic too, but he did not murder 6 million people.I think we really got off track, because we were supposed to be looking for Bin laden, the Al quaeda groups, as well as the Taliban and for some reason the focus shifted from Osama to Sadam...WHY?

Hitler had allies in WWII, namely Italy and Japan. Japan DID attack us, Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1942. Ring any bells?

Al-Quaida attacked us, true, but they were not Iraq's allies, Bin Laden has said many times he hated Hussein at least as much as he hated the Russians when THEY occupied Afghanistan (and of course, accepting our support, in terms of weapons and cash).

So now the questions which begs to be asked is, "Why did we go to so much trouble to remove someone (Hussein) who had no affiliation with Bin Laden? Why is our Commander in Thief spending so much time and money HELPING Bin Laden, by removing his enemies and pushing more Iraqis into becoming terrorists?

    Anyone?

Well we did declare war on Japan after they attacked us. And by doing so declared on Germany. So we were attacked first your argument doesn't hold water.

study your history better before asking questions. the us didnt attack hitler. japan attacked america, america declared war on japan, and then germany declared war on america by a treaty they signed with japan. therefore, germany did attack us first because they declared war first.

Why am i getting thumbs down? i just stated history.
