Bone mass reduces with age, but more severely in women after menopause (age 45-50). As you know, bones have 99% calcium, while blood has only 1% calcium. But this 1% is essential in the blood for nerve transmission, motor functions, etc.
When this 1% calcium drops below level, the blood leaches or sucks up calcium from the bones. This action becomes exagerated after menopause, when Estrogen production in women stops.
Result: Bones are less dense, and become brittle. Even with a small fall , the hip bones, collar bones, etc do not heal easily.
Solution:
Supplementation right from adolescent age!
Apart from eating lots of Calcium---in milk, curds, Figs, etc---we need to take food supplements like CALMAG. Here the natural calcium (Not synthetic) is reinforced with Magnesium. Natural vitamins are absorbed by the body 20 times better than synthetic ones!
In addition, take Ipriflavone Bone health, which gives good bone health, fortified with Chicory extract.
Source: NUTRILITE, the largest company which was also voted the MOST trusted brand, in an independent poll conducted by Reader's Digest in 2006 among 3000 people all over Asia!

Try resistance exercise (weight lifting) because it stimulates the body to increase the bone mass density to tolerate the heavy loads.
This explains why the athletes (on average) with the greatest bone mass densities are olympic weight lifters, power lifters, and bodybuilders.
Also, calcium and vitamin d are helpful.
