FRISKIES...If you feed your cat Friskies please read..URGENT?

If you go there you can see a story of a woman who only fed her 2.5 year old cat Friskies and it threw up and hours later it died. Friskies may be contaminated.
Same thing with me. I have been feeding my cat Friskies Dry Feline Favorites for about 2 weeks with the same bag. They are fine and not acting werid. If my bag was contaminated they would be dead already. These pet food companys need to get their act together and if they know that some of their dry or wet foods or treats came from the same manufacturer as the tainted wet food, then they should issue a recall right away.

I strongly agree that this is a horrific , seemingly never ending nightmare which never should have happened! It's awful enough that we have to worry about what we eat and drink ourselves being safe, we now have to worry about this with our pets! I'm beginning to wonder will those we trust with making sure what we consume is safe ever get it right? Someone somewhere isn't doing something right, there's just too much of this going on ! We can find a way to put people on the moon etc. but have no way to test what goes into our foods or set stricter guidelines? This is America , why do we have to rely on products and or ingredients from other countries to feed our pets? Just my opinion but I strongly feel that this should never have happened and it's terrible that so many pets had to suffer and die before anyone even knew these foods were tainted! My heart breaks for those that have lost their pets, my prayers are with them. I purchase and have for 5+ years now only Friskee canned and dry food. I have 3 inside cats, at times 12+ outside homeless cats that I care for and feed, as well as my daughter's 3 inside and 2 outside homeless cats, just the canned purchased is 80-100 cans every 2 weeks. So far, all seem fine . Thank God! When it comes to feeding them, I do what I do for myself, which is ask for God's blessing, and that's where I put my trust, he always gets it right! Whatever you decide, my prayers go out to you and your pets. Good Luck!

Thank you. I feed mine friskies some times. I used meow mix indoor formula in Feb and March till they started to vomit. i was stupid and did not keep the bag. This was before the recall.
My boyfriend has multiple cats and one died Feb 2 out of the blue. She was eating and all the others were eating Meow mix indoor formula at his house. His female started to vomit then just lay there and had urinated on herself and passed away. All with in a 12 hour period. By the time he got home from work on his lunch break she was gone. So very sad.
When the vet called he stated it need a autopsy. No results still.
I have 4 cats and two dogs and i am so scared to feed them. i buy a new bag of food for the dogs every two weeks and do the same for the cats.
The recall list has changed in the last week. It scares me to where I want to feed them human food and put pet vitamins in it.

Leave out high quality dry food all the time (or a scoop twice a day if you don't want to free-feed). Feed wet food once a week to once every other day as a treat and protein/water boost. That's what I do with my cat and he's healthy and happy. Because the dry food is high quality, he doesn't eat too much of it, and he's so healthy that he plays and burns it off. I feed my cat Castor & Pollux from PetCo, but what you're looking for is Meat and not by-product or meal, or grains, as the first three ingredients. It's hard to find, but a few foods do have it. It costs a little more, but in the long run I'm saving money because he doesn't eat as much. Good luck.

Try to find a local manufacturer of cat food. Try to get close to organic cat food. I had an organic pet food manufacture plant. Just made organic ingredients in the food. Try to get foods without preservatives, coloring, or other forms of chemicals in the food for your cat. Because the problem is from wheat gluten that was tainted with rat poison that came from China. Try to go local feed processors. This way you are less likely to get cross contamination in the food chain. The more natural the food the better quality for your cat. Good Luck with your pet.

Wow thx 4 the info. Thats all my cat eats is friskies sliced w/ beef n gravy he won't eat ne other brand or flavor. We just recently bought him about 10 cans of it. He seems like he's normal to me. But just to be on the safe side until we figure out if friskies is contaminated I'm not giving him ne more I'll just feed him dry food. I know he's going to hate that b/c he's always begging for it. thx again!

Very disturbing indeed. I fed my cats Friskies as soon as I knew about the recall and read the list (Friskies was not on it). I fed them about 3 cans before I went out to buy Natural Balance and Castor and Pollux. Both my cats are OK.

I have fed my cat Friskies for years and never had any problems.
Recently I bought some organic cat food from Whole Foods - and she loves it! At least I have found something that is not on the recall list. It's a bit spendy but at least I know it's good for my cat.

Thanks for posting this, I also feed my cat Friskies Dry Feline Favorites, and he's thrown his food up a couple times, recently :( Time for a trip to the vet, perhaps.

After that big *scare* I am afraid to feed my cat anything that comes in a can, bag, or box that is bought in a store.
