I wonder what's happened to my left hand! It feels numb but?

I can still move it. It is still warm but it feels just as if it is 'defrosting' from the winter cold weather. I haven't knowingly injured it. Can anyone help please?

Does this happen often? Did you fall asleep on it, or fall asleep in a funny position? It could be a pinched nerve from your neck, or even a somewhere down the length of your arm. Is it your whole hand? If not, if it is the outside and ring finger and pinky that would be an ulnar nerve irritation. If it is more thumb and index finger then it could be a carpal tunnel problem. If it persists I would get that checked out because it could be something serious.

    Good luck to you

    1. I'm not a Dr. I've had a similar issue with my big toe. Turns out it was a pinched nerve in my back. My guess is that it is a pinched nerve in your neck. From your neck, the nerve runs down your arm to your fingers. When I broke my hand, the gave me a shot to numb my entire arm. They stuck the needle on the side of my neck just at the base. 20 minutes later they "adjusted" the fractures and put a cast on. Based on your past problems, I'd see a doctor could be nerve damage. P.S. Thank you for your service, I appreciate all you have done and given.

Did you bump your elbow? That's not what we commonly consider an injury, but lying on it 'funny' can cause a vague sensation in your hand.

Carpal tunnel syndrome comes to mind as does neuropathy from diabetes.

Temperature variations in extremities (like hands and feet) aren't uncommon with autoimmune diseases.

See your doc and let him be the judge; we can't tell you what's the matter; only that it might not be something; or it MIGHT be something you should let someone know about.

Sounds like Carpal Tunnel syndrome, used to be reffered to as, "Nintendinitis". It occurs after over use of the hands and wrist, when the Median nerve is pinched continuously between two pieces of main cartilage. See your doctor about it.

Did you just wake up after sleeping on it...? Try moving it, each finger independantly, stretch, etc untill the feeling comes back, if not, call your doctor

Edit: Ya see, I gave ya basiclly the same answer, lack of blood circulation, maybe call the doctor as an RN. It just goes to show you, that they are rediculously overpaid simply because they spent $350,000 on a piece of paper saying they are qualified

It sounds like you may have a nerve impingement , carpal tunnel syndrome . It can be caused from doing repetitive movements . Using a brace on your wrist may help . See your Dr .

it sounds like carpel tunnel. wear a wrist brace. it will keep your wrist straight and the circulation flowing and wear it to bed at night. if that does not help you may want to consult your doctor you may need surgery.

It doesn'have alot of blood in it, so it (So called) fell asleep and you have to wait a while. (But when this happens, it's really asleep so I call it Hibernation lol.)
