Why does everyone spell lose as loose? Do people not know the difference?
The reason I put this question in "Diet and Fitness" is because lose is used more here than anywhere else in yahoo questions.

I was just reading a question about losing weight..And practically everyone used the word "loose" instead of "lose"... I don't think people know the difference. If anything they probably think "lose" is not a word. Just like with "there" and "their", "where" and "wear" and so on. I have to admit, I'm not the brightest person when it comes to grammar but mixing up "loose" and "lose" is just sad.
PS. Its really funny that 'kayzee' said "They are just too lazy to do spell check!", since both words ARE spelled correctly.
EDIT:
Wow, people are really loving the "thumbs down" link, button, or w/e u call it.

Spelling errors are a persevering with irritant...that is like no one right here makes use of the verify Spelling link before sending...the only different element it is extra stressful is the undesirable grammar!

It might be a product of today's public schools. I've gone into the Fashion and Accessories section and have seen obvious kids who can't even string together a sentence, use capitalization and abbreviate three and four letter words. If they put in as much effort to their basic composition skills their posts would be more easily readable.

Because English is a hard language for americans to learn because of our poor education system in many states. I'm surprised I can put a complete sentence together, but I do have $20k in school loans, that might be why. I have also noticed that alot of people use sence instead of sense.

Ignorance. It happens at my office all the time. I just had a co-worker IM me with "hear" instead of "here." Or maybe they just never paid attention in English?
