Which one is the correct adjective version of the noun "empathy" (or the verb "empathize")?  Is one correct or are they both correct?  If they're both correct, is one British and one American (e.g. colour vs. color)?  If so, which is which?  Is one formal and one informal (e.g. attorney vs. lawyer)?  Again, if so, which is which?

I've heard that spinal compression while you're awake and standing/sitting during the day causes you to gradually get shorter as the day goes on.  Likewise, they say spinal decompression when you're asleep and lying down causes you to gradually get taller through the night.

So, how much taller are you the moment right after you wake up (after 8 hours of sleep) than the moment right before you go to bed (after 16 waking hours)?  A full inch?  Half an inch?  A centimeter?

I noticed my cat has been scratching herself a lot more than usual lately. I think she may have fleas, but I'm not sure. She's never had fleas before, and we don't let her outside. The only thing I can think of is that there was a mouse in the apartment about a week ago that she chased around for about an hour. Could the mouse have had fleas? Is it possible for a mouse to give a cat fleas?

I don't want to give her flea treatment medicine unless I'm sure that she has fleas, but I also would like to avoid the vet bill if at all possible. Is there a way to accomplish both? If a cat scratches, does that always mean fleas or can it mean something else? Will flea treatment medicine hurt her if she doesn't have fleas? Are flea prevention medicine and flea treatment medicine the same thing? If it's not fleas, what do I do if her itching is coming from something other than fleas?

For example, there's Dominica and the Dominican Republic. They're separate countries, but both peoples are referred to as "Dominicans." So, if I hear someone is Dominican, I don't know whether or not they're a citizen of Dominica or the Dominican Republic. Why is this?

Also, there's the Republic of the Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. They're separate countries, but both countries are known colloquially as "the Congo," and both peoples are referred to as Congolese. So, if I hear someone is Congolese, I don't know whether or not they're a citizen of the Republic of the Congo or the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

How does one clear up the confusion?

There are lots of popular shows and movies that I've noticed are not available on either Hulu or Netflix. How do I submit a suggestion to these services to add these shows to their streaming libraries?

Is it "The Sun" or "the Sun" or "the sun?"

Is it "The Internet" or "the Internet" or "the internet?"

I always thought these countries were pronounced EYE-RACK and EYE-RAN.

But I've also lately heard people call them EE-RAWK and EE-RAWN.

Is there a correct and incorrect way to pronounce these countries, or are they both correct?

The show I'm referring to is "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" on NBC.

Did I miss an episode or something? Because I thought that Lt. Olivia Benson's boyfriend was Ofc. Brian Cassidy. He used to be an SVU detective, but is now an IAB officer. But now I see that Olivia's getting all romantic with Capt. Ed Tucker, to which she got in a lot of trouble for. Did Benson and Cassidy break up, or are they still dating and Benson is just cheating on him with Tucker?

One of the main characters, who was originally referred to as Jane Doe, because nobody know her and she had memory loss, has now been positively identified by DNA and by that weird dude who works for her, as Taylor Shaw. So why does Weller still call her Jane? Why does everyone at the FBI still call her Jane? And why does she still call herself Jane?

And when and it what situations is it more appropriate to use "continuous" instead of "contiguous" and vice versa?

I have 2 yellow dart frogs. A few days ago, I noticed on one of the frogs, his chin looked considerably bigger than it normally does. It looked as though he had a double chin or something. I know that it's not normal (and that I'm not overfeeding him) because this has never happened before - and like I said, it has only affected one of the frogs. What's wrong with him and what do I do about it? Will it heal itself or do I need to administer medicine or something?

Seriously, why? Is this what our country, our society, and our world has come to? Why? Why can't people stop being stupid? I mean, there are so many people being stupid! Why?

I just learned that Weather.com is going to start using web bugs in the form of single-pixel GIFs to track their users. And that got me thinking: do other sites use web bugs too? And what is the risk of web bugs? Are they used specifically and only by the site to track user activity or can they be used maliciously?

I gather that both words are antonyms of "satisfied," but is there a difference in degree or intensity or something or are the words virtually the same in meaning?

Most homonyms I'm able to figure out, but these I can't. Please help me with this.

When Yahoo Answers went and changed virtually everything about the service, they took away the ability to vote on a best answer and the expiration of questions. Thus, a question can stay open forever, and only the asker can pick the best answer, and he/she/they can do it whenever if they even choose to do it at all.

Now, I'm not complaining about this feature. But I have noticed that askers don't choose best answers. They just leave their questions open. There are even sometimes where they'll acknowledge a best answer in a comment, but fail to click the "Award Best Answer" button. Why is this?

Personally, whenever, I ask a question, I always choose a best answer. I never leave it open for too long.
