According to Webometrics, the top 100 universities in the world include these follwoing Candianan colleges: University of Toronto, University of British Columbia, University of Alberta, Simon Fraser University, University of Calgary, Univeristy of Montreal, University of Waterloo Ontraio, McGill University, York University, and Laval University. Cape Breton University in Sydney, Nova Scotia, is also worth serious consideration as they rank #1 for graduate satisfaction. They are a fairly new university (achieving the status after years as a college) and have both a large international constiuency as well as a tight knit campus community that fosters success. If you're from the United States, you might want to check out the website below. It will save you a lot of research time if and when you decide to begin your academic career in Canada. Good luck!

I think you may like the private school, but you need to some research. I went to private school for several years, and found that some teachers at private school are to busy to teach. Many private schools have demerits (paper slips you receive when you do something wrong, a certain amount means detention) Students would receive demerits for all sorts of things like dress code, or holding a pencil while the teacher was talking (so much for taking notes) The teachers at my school were so busy filling these out, that our class fell behind in the lesson. The school had a good reputation, so this was very surprising. Also, it really helps if you come from an affluent family, and are athletic in order to fit in--sports teams are really popular. Many of the girls will carry designer handbags, drive nice cars, and go on annual ski trips/ trips to Europe etc. School admins always say their school is wonderful, so they are not the best people to ask. If you can, ask some students how they like the school.
