Have you taken Topamax?

It was recommended to me. I was wondering if any one else has been on it and what side effects they experienced. I am supposed to take it for migraines and seizures.

Thank you in advance

i took that plus several other medications including a beta blocker. did not help with the migraines but did lose some weight while taking it. hunger goes way, way down and some nausea associated with it. didn't like it except for about 10 pounds shed with no effort. it is extremely dangerous if plan on becoming pregnant. i was taking it, got pregnant with my daughter and they had to do an extensive ultra sound to make sure no damage was done to her. it creates HUGE problems with a unborn baby which i was not aware of while taking it. thankfully she came out just fine with no problems but it can create extra limbs or missing limbs in an unborn child so do not take it if planning or not planning on becoming pregnant.

I started taking it last year for migrane prevention and I believe it really helped me. I used to get migranes about once or twice a month and now I go for several months without one and the ones I have now are treated with Relpax. I really don't notice any side effects at all. The doctors will want you to watch your weight because it will make you not hungry but I really didn't loose that much and I didn't feel the loss of hunger.

    Good luck!

it is a good product and the side effects are really those of normal migraines. But they are associated with the product anyways. Consult your physician about it first.

My brother takes it for migraines. It really helps. I hadn't heard him complain of any side effects. Loss of appetite is definitely not one he gets because all he does is eat... anyways, hope it helps you!
