Has anyone else thought of this?
My hubby and I before we got married settled (in a legal document) custody of any children we might have. The only way to break this agreement is if it can be proven that one parent is "unfit" by child services or the child is old enough to decide.
It’s kind of a pre-nup for custody.
In case any one is wondering why we did this, it was because I was scared of “if” we should get a divorce (I was still fighting for custody of my daughter).
Maybe this should be something that more couples do... What do you all think?
Okay so then are you all against a pre-nup when it comes to money?
Think about how much time, money, and pain this will save IF anything should ever happen. There won't be any ugly custody battle for the kids to deal with.
And it's called REALIZISM into today's world of high divorce rates. It is also about open communication and the fact that both of us are adult enough to realise that neither know what the futures holds but we both want what is best for our kids.
I believe that everyone should do this for the kids' sake.

I love it, it is a great idea. I hope the marriage works for you.

Sounds like you are planning fail instead of planning to succeed. Do you take the same approach in life, in general? How awful. Sometimes you need to just dive in and take a risk. It worked for us. When my wife and I were engaged, practically everyone told us that we were wrong for each other, even the pastor, if you can believe that. Well, we have now been married over 15 yrs, have 3 wonderful kids, and are still madly in love. ...and many of the nay-sayers are divorced. Go figure!

If you're implementing legal safeguards in the event of a divorce, then clearly you both believe that divorce is a possibility. Which makes me wonder you even got married in the first place?

it's a good idea. and clearly you've done this because of your past relationship. you shouldnt go into marriage thinking of divorce though.. i would take a good look at your new relationship, maybe you need counseling to get over your last one.
