Curious, someone told me I can file my 2007 tax return as of Dec. 10, 2007?
They have told me that H&R Block can give you your return with the pay stub just before December 10, 2007. Is this true? I could really use the money for christmas, Also if I can file can I do rapid refund, and get the money back next day like I have in recent years?
She claims that your 1st stub in Dec and they will "guesstimate" your year end salary! Sounds logical, I think!
Well, I guess I will thank you all very much! I did not think of it as a loan of any sort! I mean it is my money, really! O well I think for the sake of my kids I will just cut my losses and take the loan! Thank you!

H&R Block is doing it STARTING December 10 (at least in my area). They are calling it "Emerald Advance". It is up to $500 and they prefer if you have done your taxes with them in 2005 or 2006. The woman that I spoke to in person also stated that if you did not do your taxes with them there maybe some guidelines for new customers to get approved, but she didnt know the specifics on that and FWIW that's off the record.
The disbursment method will be on the Emerald Card ONLY, there will be no checks involved. If you saved your card from earlier this year thats good, but you will be issued one if you dont have one.

I am not 100% sure about this but a couple weeks ago, my brother wanted me to look up when he could go into H & R Block to get soem kind of Holiday loan that he has been getting for yeears there.
Anyways, it seems they stopped doing that program BUT I did read that they might be doing it again the first part of Dec since they opened their own bank.
Maybe this is what they were talking about?
All you need is your last paycheck stub and they will loan you up to $500 on your taxes.

Taxes can be filed in December so long as you have your very last paystub of the year and you have all other documentation and figures that you will need for filing. I've done this before. The "rapid refund" offer all depends on the rules and regulations of whoever does your taxes for you.
Never heard of December 10th being the "cut-off" date. That sounds strange. If you're paid weekly or even bi-weekly, you wouldn't have the exact figures needed to file your taxes by December 10th. You have to have your last paystub so that the year to date tax and salary figures are correct.

Personally, I wouldn't want anyone "guesstimating" my taxes since I'd be the one in for an audit -- not them. If you're looking to get your taxes done early, wait till the end of December at the earliest -- then you'll have the correct numbers (from your last paystub) with no need to "guess."

Somebody told you wrong. You can't file your return until January. What H&R Block does is to give you a high fee, high interest short term loan and gets repaid when you file your return in early 2008.

This is not a tax return. It's a very simplistic LOAN at very high interest rates. I believe it's a maximum of $500.

You can't file without a W-2 (or 1099 if you're retired, or are an independant contractor)...and you won't receive them until, at earliest..the end of January of 2008.

If you are hard up for money fill out a new w4 form to have the proper amount (less) withheld. You can fill out a w5 to get about half your EIC during the year with your paychecks too.
Hope this helps.

I don't think so..... you usually have to have the official W-2. Plus, you would still be earning wages throughout December. Maybe you could call them and ask! Good luck!

I know that in the past I have been able to do my taxes in Dec also, but I think I had to wait till the end of the month... call and find out ..... I am (:
