HELP parents + math?

report cards come out next week and i know im doing really badly in math, we've only had 3 evaluations this term, and my marks were 64, 55 and 75 or something around there. I am an A+ student and I know I'm screwing up but my parents wont understand at all and I'm really scared. I've applied for a tutor, and will definitely improve by the end of the year, but from past experience with an 87 in math first term last year, I know that doesn't cut it for them at all. They totally want above 90 AT LEAST and this is like a 65 and i am actually terrified of them

+ its winter break and it means i'll be grounded and have to suffer through it all

any help??? much appreciated!

Come up with a "plan" for improvement in writing that you can show them. Shows you have already accepted responsibility for the future and that you are looking toward better days. Point out to them that making your daily life difficult is not going to improve your math grade. But a sound plan for action will; and you will have that part already done.

Source(s): I am a mom, who was also a student. Spent most of my high school years grounded for A-'s! (I think I still may be grounded, and I graduated thirty years ago!)

Approach your parents before the report card comes out. Tell them that you've been struggling in math, and are working on getting a tutor. They may be mad, but if you're honest and show that you're doing everything that you can to improve your grade, they may be more understanding.

I would start by explaining to your parents how you feel, make them understand what you are going through. If they don't show any interest then it looks like you are stuck with an unlucky set of parents who appear to be forcing things upon you.

You should never have to worry about what might happen to you whilst you are at home. Home is the one place a person should be able to go where they can just be themselves without fear of mistreatment.

I guess all you can do is study if they can't understand your situation :(

Well they will probably be mad at you that you have not gotten a tutor sooner or have not told they you were struggling. they may think that you let yourself slip and that is why they would be mad. explain to them why you havn't told them before or gotten a tutor before (if you have a good reason). and stay calm and collected (many teens tend to get upset in converstations like these). and i would do it before your report card came out

    tell them the truth

    you're not perfect

you'll try your best by getting a tutor

and you can definitely bring it up by next term

    they shouldn't punish them

    so just tell them.

    It's that simple

trust me I've done it before =|

Focus your energy on studying more and don't worry as much about what your parents will do or think... focus focus focus

    Talk to your counselor-

    or switch out of classes.
