What's the best way to get rid of fleas on a cat?

We had to use Revolution on our cat, which we got from the vet. It cost about $80 for a 6-month supply, and its a topical, so you just apply it to the back of the cat's neck once a month. It also protects the cat from heartworm and ear mites. Yes, we went to the vet, because if you want your cat to get the best care, you need to take it to the vet!!!

I personally think Frontline is the best product out there right now. Make sure the dose you use is for cats and of the appropriate weight (i.e. kitten or adult). I highly recommend avoiding anything sold in a supermarket, their products are usually very poor and can cause reactions with your pets.

Although you do not wish to go to the vet for this- I would suggest it. Yes, they sell these things on-line. But the advantage of going to the vet? It's backed by the vet. So you know you're getting a quality product. Anything you buy on-line is not guaranteed, at all.

So, good luck. I think Frontline works wonders. And if you've gone to the vet for their annual exams recently, they may not even make you bring them in for a physical. Give them a call.

You don't have to take the cats to a vet to pick up Frontline. Go and get some.

Whatever you do, do NOT get a flea treatment from a pet store, they really don't work and many are dangerous for cats.

Just to check; you would be bothered going to a vet if you suspected your cat was ill, wouldn't you?

With 3 cats and a dog we had a flea infestation earlier this year... we used frontline to get rid of the fleas, then I have put anti-flea collars on all 3 of them and it seems to have worked... I keep the collars on them as they too go in and out...

And dont forget to clean the house as well, wash the bedding where your cat sleeps and vacuum, vacuum, vacuum for at least a week or so every day... if you have carpets, well I used salt on them and it worked... sprinkle and leave for a while then vacuum... and throw out the vacuum bag to be on the safe side...

Frontline Plus or Advantage. You don't need to go to a vet. Some pet stores sell it or you can buy it online. Doctors Foster and Smith is a reputable site. Avoid E-Bay - there are some scammers there with fake or expired product.

All the shampoos, bombs, dips, collars and sprays are more toxic and less effective. You get what you pay for.

You can try 1-800-petmeds. I've seen them advertise flea medications that are much cheaper than you'd get through a vet.

go to your vets and buy the flea control and never ever use the harts medication. *best of luck*

there is a certain spray for that problem, but as long as your cat stays outdoor ....your cat will always have fleas
