I totally disagree with the first person here. We have never called each other names or walked out when we argue over things. I tell him my point of view, he tells me his point of view and we always compromise! I always tell people, never say anything to a person that you can never take back! It may be forgiven but never forgotten! Good Question! Have a wonderful day!

Source(s): If my way of dealing with disagreements would be so wrong, then what has kept us in a happy marriage for 30yrs! Mother of 2 and grand mother of 3. We respect each other, that's the number one thing to have in a marriage.

    Oh, this makes me laugh!

First, we get really passive-aggressive with each other. We go back and forth with snarky comments until I get really mad and try to leave the room. He stops me, and then we really sit down and talk about it and come to a resolution.

Or we just resort to juvenile name calling that always ends in "so's your face!" And then we laugh. =)

    *EDIT* (for 'fh')

The name calling is never serious. I should have specified that this is how we "fight" and not how we "disagree". It may be best to sit down and calmly discuss the issue, but that's just not going to happen all the time. Especially when emotions get involved or people have very different views on things. My husband and I are both aware of that, and we're fine with it. The passive -agressive thing WORKS for us. It doesn't work for everyone. It works for us because we both know it isn't really serious. Later, we usually remark about how the other person's comment was really lame. Fighting is just a way for us to both vent a bit of anger.

This probably works for us, because we don't fight about serious things. If there's a serious issue, we usually come to a resolution before there's even a disagreement. What we fight about usually includes which drawer is better for socks to be kept in, and why the keys keep getting lost.

And really, the name calling goes like this

    Him: "Whatever. That's stupid!"

    Me: "Your face is stupid"

    Him: "Your mom is stupid"

    Me: "Your dog is stupid!"

Him "Don't you dare say anything about my dog!"

Me: "You're right, I'm sorry. He rocks." (and he does)
