Who thinks execution is wrong?

Murder and Killing are different, let me explain. Murder is killing without just cause and killing is well with cause. If someone went up and stabbed a random person they should be punished. If someone trys to break in my house and harm my family well if by all means i have to kill them, to protect my family, you bet your butt i will. Murder is wrong and deserves punishment

I agree. Execution is wrong in my eyes as well. I disagree with "and1play" on the definitions of murder and killing. It is true that kill is defined as "causing death" and murder is to "illegally cause death", however the scenario of the burgler to me represents a much more unhealthy nature in people.

In situations where people claim "self defense" as a way of justifying killing someone, I find to be a weak argument. It's basically saying "I find that my life is more valuable than yours." which is selfish and ignorant. To shoot an intruder based on the fact that you'd rather he died than you, or him than your wife, really doesn't make you some kind of hero. If anything, you've sunk to his level.

A true hero prevents anyone from dying.

Anyone who can justify in their mind a just cause to kill someone, a completely legal reason that you should suck someones life out of them, that person is just as capable of murder and cannot be trusted. Because the only person judging what is right and wrong for them is themselves. And it's been my observation that psychotic gun owners waay outnumber the calm and sane ones.

By killing someone as a form of punishment you have given up the option of rehabilitating them. You've taken complete disregard of their life based on the principal of revenge. It's pretty sick.

This isn't the dark ages. More often than not violence is a learned trait that passes through family. Although it's not always the case, to simply kill the criminal (and lets not forget the fact that we execute innocent people by mistake sometimes) shows laziness on our part, and a lack of respect for human life. Something pro-life people preach about all the time.

There are no easy solutions for what to do with criminals, but obviously the current theme ain't workin' so well.

It is an argument that is so difficult to satisfactorily answer. Yes, if my friends, family or loved ones where abused, murdered or otherwise attacked I would fight to the death for justice for them. However we look at it whoever administers that drug, pushes that button or otherwise authorises the taking of that life has to take some moral responsability for killing. Yes they are killing in 'guilt' as oppose to innocence, but it is still the taking of a life. Then what of the miscarriages of justice? What of rehabilitation? Who qualifies for the death sentence? The man who murders a burglar against a serial killer. May seem a simple choice but since when was every murder, every killing that straight forward and easy to judge? Okay let's just settle crime on an eye for eye basis, but where does that really leave those left on the wrong side of those consequences?

There are people out there comitting crimes so vile the only just punishment is the forfit of their life. The cost of justice is a bad reason not to do justice.

I'm against execution too. Move to NJ, the state of NJ abolished execution
