Ingredients
There is no fixed specification for hot dog meat, with pork and beef being the most popular ingredients. Less expensive hot dogs typically contain some pork, but are primarily chicken, due to the low cost and availability of mechanically separated chicken. Hot dogs are generally regarded as unhealthy insofar as most have high sodium, fat and nitrate content. In recent years, due to changing dietary preferences in the U.S., manufacturers have turned to turkey, chicken, or vegetarian meat substitutes, and have begun lowering salt content.
In general, if a manufacturer produces two types of hot dog sausages, "wieners" tend to contain pork and are the blander of the two, while "franks" tend to be all beef and more-strongly seasoned. This is particularly true of Oscar Mayer products.
btw people who say that hot dog weiners are filled with body parts like beaks and crap like that are people who believe Elvis is still alive.....both are MYTHS! lol

Hot dogs are made out of chicken, beef or pork. For some just turkey or a mix. They are the remaining parts of the left over parts of an animals body parts. The parts that are not used during processing. For example, eyes, guts etc.

The ground up meat that is left over from processing other meat. Like when a butcher cuts meat to order, he takes the leftovers & grinds it up & makes hot dogs & that is putting it mildly. If you ever seen a meat processing plant & the way they actually doit, you would never want to eat one ever again.

Different Animals. Honest to god they use to be made out of "male parts" but they can not do that anymore. But they make hotdogs out of Beef(cow),chicken, turkey, and pork...
The best for you is beef though. Turkey and chicken are to fatty.

One of our friends dad's works at a meat packing plant in Kansas, and according to him hot dogs can be up to a certain percent "foreign matter". I would stick to vegetarian alternatives such as SmartDogs. You know what you are getting with them and they taste amazing! (and they are fat free!)

It depends on the kind of sausage you put in it - usually beef or pork. They can be made with chicken or turkey too.
