There is really nothing to embarassed, self confidence and poised has very little to do with physical appearance unless you make too big deal out of it and focus your energy and attention to it. What you can do is focus on your sthrength instead of your shortcomings just be confidently clean maintain great hygiene habit and your well OK to socialized. Try to take the habit of John Cage of Alyy McBeal find a team song that boosts your confidence and play that in your mind while you socialized it works for me.

Well first I know I'm not a girl, but hey A-Hole this truly has nothing to do with Fitness at all. now if you added "What can I do for a work to help" it would of been. This isn't really health but I think people will help you anyway.
1.Grab some dumbbells and curl them till your heart feels accomplished.
2.Start going for a jog every day or almost everyday for a good cardiovascular workout. Try to get a good time and distance set.
3.Start giving yourself compliments everyday in the mirror in the bathroom
4.Think positive and you will feel positive.
Shy guy is one of my favorite video game characters from mario.. lol..
Don't worry just relaxe, embarassment is all in your head..

nothing to be embarassed about we're all different
but if u really want to put on some weight i'd say eat plenty carbs and protein
PROTEIN - CARBS
meat - bread
eggs - pasta
fish... - potatoes
then do some press ups or weight lifting to build up muscle the protein will help u do this
