Help...Broken Foot!!?

One week ago, I fell going up one lousy stair.. (can you believe it?) Anyways, I thought I only sprained my foot, cuz the swelling went down and I can walk on it.. Yesterday however, I had an xray just to make sure, and Yes.. there is a fracture, on the side, obviously not bad cuz I can walk on it.. Anyway my question is... I have to go see an ortho guy today and I do not want a cast! I have to be able to drive, Can they give me some kind of brace or stabelizer?? I need some advice on how to convince this doc that I cannot have a cast..... what do you think? Any help is appreciated....

When I sprained my ankle, i know you broke yours, I used a product called an "Air Cast". It it a light weight cast that you can remove, it has Velcro and it very convenient for driving and for taking a shower.

It has air to keep the ankle comfortable and plastic sides to keep the ankle stable. Check it out online:

    Good Luck.

Go see the ortho guy and tell him that you'd rather lose your whole leg than wear a cast because you need to be able to drive and all. Honey, the ortho is never a monster who would eat you up if you don't get a cast. He'll have plenty of other options for you. Serious injuries like these, you leave to doctors, okay? It's for your own safety. Get well soon!

Felt sad reading about your foot, but your Doc would do the best. Doctor must put your foot in a cast. For time being, ask someone to help you in driving.

if you need a cast get it but ask about an air cast also if it is your foot the cast will only go to below your knee i dont see how it is impossible to drive

well i would reccomend following his advice. Fractures even hairline fractures can take a very long time to heal.

If you don't follow his advice this could plague you for a long time .

besides, what's so important about driving, is public transportation not an option?

Let him know of your job duties and ask for a soft cast.

your health matters more. When bones are not properly set, they can give you problems for years to come.
