has anyopne else noticed the change in questions on here?

It seems like to me the questions on here have changed in the past few months. earlier it just seemed like the questions were serious hunting questions, and there were some dumb ones, but it just seems to me a bunch of questions are about where people can get guns they think are fully automatic, airsoft, and hunting questions have become scarcer. Anyone else noticed a change?

I think the most frustrating thing to me is when folks that can really use their experience to help me do not help me. They instead find anyway they can to degrade me or make me look like an idiot.

I am what I consider to be a very experienced hunter and outdoorsman but I don't know everything. So when I ask a question it does not mean that I am an idiot or lack common sense! I just need help so that I can further my quest to, in fact, know everything!

This attitude towards the question askers with answers like "You don't need a gun because they are dangerous and you will hurt someone". This wasn't told to me but was an answer to a grown man asking about a good home defense handgun.

These assumptions turn away the great minds because nobody likes to be treated like they are an irresponsible or unknowledgeable person....so instead of asking the community for help they go onto Google and just research it on their own.

So not only are these pessimistic and disrespectful community members abusing their power and NOT doing the right thing by chastising the question anskers they are, in the long run, not even doing anything to dissuading them from getting their handgun. In fact they may be doing more harm then good because when that person gets their handgun they may not seek as much help with safety and use of the weapon for fear of being treated like they were before by someone from the firearm community. You actually see this clique mentality more vivdily in improperly run gun shops who have come to the conclusion that if the firearm user is not experienced as they are they must be an idiot.

With this in mind the experienced member should use their knowledge to not try and dissuade the question asker and make that assumption of idiocy and they should answer the question asker in an unbiased manner based on the ASKER'S needs and not based on what their own personal opinion or situation is.

So maybe we shouldn't blame the question askers, but ourselves as the top contributors to the answers in the question world. This can make all the difference in the world when we show, as a community, that we are here not to judge folks but to help them as best as we can. We need to be recruiting folks to be interested in guns and hunting and not turning them away. If this starts with young folks playing air soft then I feel that is a small price to pay to increase the popularity and power of our amazing lifestyle.

Will we recruit morons....yes.....but believe it or not most people try to do their best to follow the rules and to be responsible and show common sense. We don't treat people like this though....we treat them like they are all idiots, whether that is to put ourselves on pedestals or because we are afraid of being responsible for recruiting that one idiot, either way it is bad.

As a community we need to step it up and show the other categories that we as a group are the respectful, intelligent, logical, friendly and hard working individuals that we so passionately claim to be! Sportsmen as a whole are the best people in the world and I have met the most amazing people in my travels....but we sometimes find it hard to show new comers or outsiders that same personality. It needs to stop in my opinion! I am not accusing anyone of anything that I myself have not been guilty of from time to time...I am not perfect, but I am working on becoming the person that I admire in the strongest of my peers.

    Hey man,

Hunting seasons for most game end in the Springtime.

That means very little (legal) hunting occurs in the Spring and Summer.

Spring and Summer are the traditional gun show, gun trading, recreational shooting, outdoor tactical gaming, fishing, boating, and tall-tale-tellin' Seasons.

    Think about it.

    It makes sense.

Hunting questions will become more prevelant in the Fall again, I promise.

    -Till then, broaden your horizions,

    talk guns,

    talk shop,

figure out what Airsoft is all about,

    take a kid fishing,

tell stories about the one that got away,

    go to the drag races,

    don't be sad.

Hunting season will be back before the elections.

Yeah, I have noticed that, too. I have no problem with kids posting these questions but I just wish there was a separate forum for them. I know nothing about air soft guns so I never answer these questions. Many of the questions about pellet guns and BB guns are seemilgly pretty silly but I am sure that the kid who asks them, thinks they are worthy of consideration. There again, much of the stuff that they ask I do not have an answer for. My area of interest is guns and hunting. I would prefer a forum devoted exclusively to these subjects alone. That way, I could look at questions that are something that I know about and leave the BB gun questions and air soft gun questions to those who know about them and have an interest in them. We all need to have a forum for our questions but I think we need some separation into better categories.

I think many serious people have been discouraged by the ridiculous things they get reported for.

A month or so ago I was SUSPENDED for using a word to describe operating the action of a firearm. The word in contention was a synonym for a male bird that rhymes with lock.

So if the kids who think they are soooooooooo cool can chase out us old guys who actually try to impart some intelligence, they can have this whole place as a joke.

Some days I think they've succeeded.

the same basic people who love hunting are still here, it's just that so many youg people are flooding the site with air soft and foolish questions about zombie killing etc. But work thru them, report the dangerous ones, and sooner or later they fade away. I don't mind any real firearms question either. They really don't have a forum for that, and I enjoy answering, and even learning new things.

I have noticed a number of questions regarding circumventing the law. e.g. building a gun, modifying flare guns, shady transfers.

The other type of questions I often laugh at are "what is the biggest ________?" Yes, Someone can afford a 700NE, but alas I will never know the bruises, Hm mm, pleasure of firing one, besides deer in Louisiana are smaller than our rabbits. I have never regarded anything over .45cal for handguns as an advantage, rather the opposite. The recoil from these massive firearms make them impractical to me.

I asked a question about all of the sound suppression and had the question taken off. I think its because of what i called the kids who were talking about it. I still think thats what they are.

I agree that legitimate hunting questions have become rare and many have become absurd.
