Incest...moral or legal taboo?
After the case from Austria where the father kept his daughter locked up for 24 years and fathered 7 children with her, I did a little research and found that father/daughter incest is far more prevalent than it seems. Most cases never make it to the police (and therefore stay out of the news) but shrinks are dealing with rampant damage because of it. So my question to fathers is: 1) Have you never had any feelings like this? 2) Had them but rejected them on moral grounds? 3) Rejected them on purely legal grounds? 4) Done it anyway?
Were you more afraid of jail than hell?
It was naive of me to expect anyone to answer in the affirmative in an open forum...perhaps for those people it is a question to be considered rather than actually answered.
Anyone who wishes to contact me privately about the matter may do so. All responses will be treated with respect and kept in private.

It is legal taboo more than anything else. We all came from incest anyway. Think about it. Are actual families legal things or natural things? They're legal. Somebody decided that they would mate, produce offspring, keep the offspring, name the offspring in order to keep track of them, and eventually colonize to the point where last names were necessary. Otherwise, there is really nothing wrong with it, even if you are of a Christian denomination, which I am not.

The taboos on incest are relatively recent in the civilized world. It wasn't thought of as a problem just a few hundred years ago. Eleanor was a close relative of FDR, a cousin or second cousin, I believe. Many of the signers of the Declaration of Independence married their cousins.
The purpose of the taboo is, as pointed out earlier, because of the tendency to birth defects.
The Rape aspect of it is another issue as well. Having never been raped, I can't really figure out whether it is worse to have no idea who the perpetrator was, or if it was someone within the family, perhaps someone who is otherwise kind and caring. Perhaps they are equally damaging, but just different. I don't know.
As far as personal experience, I wasn't raised with family of the opposite sex and have no children of my own, and my siblings' children have always lived in other states. I have no experience with even the opportunity for such feelings. I can't imagine having them, though.

i think of few human beings right here have broken any sexual taboos, and human beings that have are actually not often going to admit them in a public dialogue board usually examine by potential of law enforcement officials and psychotic vigilantes. So, one thought may well be to look at those you already discover out approximately who've broken taboos and notice what made them do it. One properly widely used occasion is definitely a properly-widely used Nineteen Seventies glam-rock megastar. In his case, i think of it grew to become into perceived freedom - he believed he grew to become into going to a rustic and a society the place this actual taboo did not exist. for many the comparable reason I too broke a criminal taboo. interior the united kingdom that's incredibly frowned on for there to be a 25-3 hundred and sixty 5 days age hollow between fans (i'm fifty two and my lady buddy is 27), yet interior the Philippines that's not seen unusual. so as a guy over 50, if i needed a 20-something lady buddy, greater effective to pass to the Philippines than attempt this interior the united kingdom. in case you have been an English sheep-shagger, might you be cautioned to commute westwards the place that's referred to as a mark of community national delight? yet another useful source might desire to be the bare Civil Servant by potential of Quentin Crisp, or certainly any money owed from gay human beings earlier homosexuality grew to become into legalised. Nabokov's Lolita written over 50 years in the past is a properly widely used novel exploring the breaking of a taboo. yet another groundbreaking one is lady Chatterley's Lover which broke the class taboo in England. i don't think of lots has been written considering that then, so i'm finding forward to a minimum of one that addresses twenty first century taboos.

Your secondary question is asking us men (as fathers) if we have ever committed rape/incest?
How many people do you think are going to answer in the affirmative?
As far as my social thoughts on it go...I think in such cases, the perp should be castrated and have his cheek branded for all to see!
EVEN in the case of mental illness! After one or two brandings (and national news coverage) this type of B/S would suddenly become unappealing to those committing it.
For those kids that would lie to the police and courts, there should be some time of physical pain also, such as being publically whipped.

I believe incest is morally wrong and in many places, socially unacceptable.
However, if for no other reason, incest can lead to pregnancy (simply stated 'inbreeding'), which can lead to deformities. This is why there are laws against it in many, many places.

It's gross!
not just legally and morally, but biologically UNACCEPTABLE!!! There are rules because the product is often a child with severe DNA errors!

Ew. No. This thought never, ever, ever, ever crossed my mind, or my fathers. Yuck. Just thinking about it makes me want to vomit. People that do this need to be shot and taken out of the gene pool.

Those thoughts never entered my head. This is my daughter and my offspring. The whole concept is nauseating.

To me, it's morally wrong and disgusts me. I dated a guy once, who admitted to me that he had sexual feelings for his step-daughter...
I find it disturbing and needless to say, that was the end of that!
The thought sickens me to no end.
