Where can I get a sparkly hair comb or pin that doesn't cost a fortune?
I am not having a veil, so I am looking for a 3 or 4 inch hair comb or some sparkly hair pins that I can decorate my hair with. I will be wearing my hair in a loose updo. Everything that I have found is at least $25 per pin and I would need 4 or 5 for it to look right! I found a few combs but haven't found anything cheaper than about $120. I don't want to spend that much when I'll never wear it again! Has anyone found any websites or stores where they are more reasonable?
I've already looked at Claire's and I've scoured 3 malls in my area (Philadelphia) trying to find something. I've looked at David's Bridal and about a million websites...

Check ebay. I was looking at pins for my wedding on there and found quite a few that I really liked. I ended up making my own because i decided later that I wanted pearls and crystals and it was just easier to make one. But ebay has a bunch at all different prices.

I didn't want a tiara, so I made myself a headband because all the ones I found on the internet were $150 or more! Have you tried looking at Claire's or Afterthoughts, that mall store? Maybe they have something you can embellish.
Or buy some inexpensive plastic or metal combs at the drugstore and use fine wire to attach beads to them in a "spray out" style. I went to Michael's and found pretty crystals, pearls, and seed beads and just had fun with it. You could also incorporate tiny silk flowers from there, if you want to. If the top of the comb still shows through afterwards, use some craft glue to glue more seed beads to that area, but make sure to leave the teeth clean so it slides easily into your hair.

I got some of my wedding jewelry from Clairs. It's cheap and won't last long but if you only need it for one day then that shouldn't matter. Just be warned that you shouldn't buy anything more than a month or two before the day since the color of the comb may change over time.

You could try the fashion jewelry places at the mall, or also try looking at craft stores like Michaels or Joanne's, in their wedding section. Plus, those stores usually have 40% off coupons that come in the Sunday paper, so that will save you even more! I just had a veil - used one of the coupons for Michaels, and only spent $8 for the veil!

AC Moore and Michael's wedding section. And be sure to get the Sunday coupon or you can actually print one off the internet. That's what I did!

Just shop around or make your own. I'm sure if you go to a non-upscale salon you can find something or try even one of those beauty supply stores...
