why not the mental and physical aspects, not the abortion itself but how it affects emotionally and physically the women and the men. i was a counselor for many years and had many women who had abortions come to me with severe depression etc. afterwards. even though they could justify the abortion logically they still suffered from depression, loss, guilt and mourned but they were ashamed because this was supposed to be 'their choice'. many were uninformed about the procedures and the growth stages of the child so when they did find out it was devastating. men who are the fathers and either have no choice or were in on the decision also suffer symptoms similar to post traumatic stress. its a wide open field of study as no one wants to talk about it, because it was their choice now they are suffering as a result but they can't say why because ppl would say it was their choice. and men especially have a difficult time because they are told its not their body so they have no choice in the matter but in reality it is partly their child. i find it strange that if the woman decided to have the child against his wishes he is responsible financially for the child until its 18 but he has no say in whether or not to end its life. as a side note: only up until a few years ago did planned parenthood start offering post abortion counseling as they did not want to recognize the fact that women were having difficulty coping with their decisions. i assume they still offer it but am unsure. i do know that many of the women who came to me suffered terribly but felt they should be able to cope and felt guilty for feeling bad after their abortions. the thing is its a physical (hormones) as well as mentally difficult time and to end it abruptly whether its a miscarriage or abortion the women are still dealing with the hormones and then the mental aspects of loss. many in the pro-choice field do not or will not recognize post abortion depression (although they do recognize post partum depression) as it brings to light the very complicated and many physical, mental and social problems associated with abortion.
if i were you i would read everything i could get my hands on concerning abortion from the medical aspects, the procedures etc. but also books, articles of those who have dealt with the issue or had abortions. its difficult to confront this issue with an open mind as most have already made up their minds but as with any issue you have to put aside your personal feelings and seek the truth. when you push aside all the arguments for or against, pro or con, the reasons and excuses then the reality of what abortion is and does to those involved the truth will speak for itself because many are affected...from the mother and fathers, to the siblings and grandparents and in a much broader and general way our society. good luck with your thesis

How about abortion is a very controversial subject and there are parents who are willing to put their morals over the health and well being of not only their child but the child that could come from the pregnancy. This could include that the child is afraid they wouldn't allow them to have an abortion, or that they would kick them out of the house. Or that the kid seeking abortion could have been raped, but is too terrified to tell anyone of it*. This could be especially true if the person who raped them was a relative, a close family friend or simply someone close (like the pastor, or a teacher) or even a parent. (*Which isn't exactly unfounded, just research how many convicted rapist get away scott free, and how much rape victim blaming goes on.)

I can think of only one logical reason for an abortion even though I am totally against them, but exceptions can be made. 1. The woman gets pregnant from being raped 2. She is molested at a young age by someone in the home.
Those are the only pros that I can think of. A con is that in some cases after an abortion is performed the woman can no longer conceive later on in life when she is ready for a child.

Do some research and look up some stories of women who had abortions and then became mothers later on...
or were already mothers and had an abortion.....
think about questions or issues like.....
For what reason did they choose an abortion...?
did the father pressure the decision or was he around?
was economics a factor?
would they do it again...?
are they still pro choice?
are they pro life?
why did they do it?
do they regret their decision?
did they really understand the decision they were making?
Now that they are mothers would they have another abortion if they got pregnant at an inconvenient time of their lives?
Good luck on your paper!
get some opinions, stories...etc...
you will be much more persuasive if you use real stories and emotions to help your arguments.

What is your position? Is this a persuasive essay? Your thesis statement should be something like this:
Abortion is not a responsible choice because....
or
Abortion is the logical choice for some women because...
Your thesis should state your view and the reason. It should not be longer than 25 words.

if you are showing both sides, pro and con, but not necessarily making an argument for or against it, then use a thesis that goes something like
"Abortion is one of the most controversial issues in our modern medical era"

I would suggest calling the opponents on both sides. Pro Life and Pro choose. You will get a bunch of propaganda form either side, but you should be able to keep it objective. Each side has very definite pros and very definite cons for their cause.

you want us to write your paper for you? you have a brain, right? and opinions, right? so get to work researching and writing for gosh sake. this is a highly charged issue and people tend to get all up in arms over their position - either for or against. those against tend to be more violent and judgmental in their opposition, which is why many doctors won't do abortions any more -- they want to live to practice medicine for a while longer. happy thinking!
