That is a good recipe. Don't drain the green beans, and maybe add some salt & pepper. That's it - simple, easy, & tasty!

I drain everything that comes in a can. Add back enough water to cover, salt, pepper, and onion. Instead of just bacon grease I'd crumble a piece of crispy bacon per can into the pot. Your beans are already cooked so you really don't need to grease, just the bacon flavor.

I would definitly drain the beans. I then add a tablespoon of dales seasoning or a beef boullian cube to 2 cups of water. This elimintes all of that fat and adds a ton of flavor! Add that to the green beans and simmer for 45 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to transfer to a serving dish when ready to serve. If you have the option to buy "Italian cut" green beans (not to be confused with french cut), they are the best!

I drain and rinse all canned vegetables so they won't taste like they came from a can.

Sorry, I don't share my grandmother's secret recipe for Creole Green Beans. Good luck though.

You might want to try "google" for Green bean recipes. I hope this helps.

I love this simple recipe! I would suggest tossing in a chicken boullion cube in as well, a tsp of butter too and simmer for at least 30 minutes. Add salt & pepper to taste. I think 2 cans for 4 people is enough but I don't know what else you are making.

Drain the green beans and add one can of stewed tomatoes to the mixture. This is how I make my string beans for family gatherings and everyone really enjoys them.. they have that southern-style to them.

First of all, 4 cans for 4 people is way too much, unless that is all that you are going to serve. I would suggest that you only use 3 cans. Second, do not drain the green beans when cooking the way you suggested. Third, here are a few of my favorite ways to make green beans that you might like to try.

    Green Bean & Corn Medley

    2 Tbsp. butter or margarine

1 onion, quartered and sliced thin

    ½ cup green pepper, chopped

    1 can sliced mushrooms, drained

1 can French style green beans, drained

1 can whole kernel corn, drained

    Salt and pepper to taste

    1. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.

    2. Sauté onions, mushrooms and green pepper until tender

    but not brown; stirring occasionally.

    3. Add green beans, corn along with salt and black pepper

    to taste; stirring to combine

    4. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer until beans and corn are

    thoroughly heated.

    Green Beans and Tomato Casserole

    2 cans green beans, drained

1 can diced or stewed tomatoes

    ½ cup onions, thinly sliced

    ¼ teaspoon dried basil

    Dash of black pepper

    3 tablespoons plain breadcrumbs

    1 tablespoon margarine

    1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

    2. Combine green beans, onions and tomatoes in a baking dish.

    3. Add basil and black pepper.

    4. Sprinkle breadcrumbs on top.

    5. Dot with margarine.

    6. Bake for 25 minutes or until hot and bubbly.

    Green Bean Casserole

1 can cream of mushroom soup

    ½ cup milk

    1 teaspoon soy sauce

2 cans cut green beans, drained

1 1/3 cup French’s French Fried Onions, divided

    Dash Black pepper

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    2. Coat a 2-quart baking dish with cooking spray.

    3. Mix together cream of mushroom soup, milk, and soy sauce; blending well.

    4. Add green beans, 2/3 cup of French’s French Fried Onions and dash of black pepper; stir to mix.

    5. Pour mixture into greased baking dish and cover.

    6. Bake for 25 minutes or until heated thoroughly.

    7. Remove from oven, sprinkle remaining 2/3 cup of French’s French Fried Onions on top.

    8. Return to oven uncovered for an additional 5 minutes; serve.

Don't drain them. You might have to add water if you like to cook them longer then usual. Salt and pepper would be good. I add a teaspoon of Vinegar and cook for at least an hour.

I would drain them, and then add chopped tomatoes to your recipe, and saute them in a pan on the stove. Garlic would go good in this too. Yumm!

Leave a little bit of the liquid and put a lid on them....
