Cat is disoriented, head tilted running in circles, what's wrong?

This morning I heard my cat outside. She was meowing loudly. She leans to one side, with her head tilted. Her pupils are dilated. She keeps running in circles. It seems as though she has lost control of her movements, as she can not walk straight. She has no visible wounds. She is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. She WAS diagnosed with a slight heart murmur as a kitten. Do you have any idea what could be wrong with her? I would take her to a vet immediately, but seeing as it's a holiday none of the vet offices are open around here. I live in the country and there are not even any remotely close offices open. Please help!

Update:

There is pretty much no way she was hit by a car. We live in a remote area far from any road with traffic. She is 3 years old.

Update 2:

Also I would take her to a vet, but I can't catch her. She runs away and I'm afraid I will hurt her more by chasing her.

This happened to one of my cats. The vet determined that she had gotten into something toxic - perhaps antifreeze, or poison put out for another animal, or a skink (small animal, not a skunk) -- and spent 3 days searching for the antidote. The symptoms sound neurological; something has affected her central nervous system, which is why she can't walk properly.

Please call the nearest emergency clinic immediately. (Why do these things always happen on holidays/weekends/middle of the night?) I'm sorry you live so far from everything -- and hope something can be done for your little one.

    Good luck!

Head trauma, if the pupils are huge and the cat can't stand up she's been hit or has fallen and hit the concrete hard enough to cause swelling in the brain.

She needs to be seen by a vet immediately, this is an emergency--contact your vet at their home, they should be in the phone book. At the very least call an emergency clinic in the phone book and ask for instructions.

This isn't something to wait and see about. It can potentially kill her.

Well if you are still here to read this...

My kitten found me. When she was walking in between my legs she was doing that. I thought she was having a seizure or something. She was rubbing her head and the side of her body in circles up against the road.... She is fine to this day. I never took her to the vet or anything.... I just picked her up and held her for a little while. My fiance says she was just scratching, but I dont believe that.... See if your cat will eat and drink and can use the bathroom ok.... Try not to panic too much.... o_town.babygirl407@yahoo.com if you need someone to talk to.... Although I am no vet....

Take her to a vet immediately... Look in the phonebook for a 24 hour emergency vet, they will be open.

It could be anything from getting hit by a car to antifreeze poisoning to an inner ear infection... All are pretty SERIOUS at this point. Once again, get her to the vet immediately.

i am very sorry to say if you do not find a vet, she will probably die.

could be a stroke, nerve damage, brain injury.

most vets have a vet on call. call the office. either an answering service will answer or an answering machine with instructions on how to contact a vet.
