well this is what i did when i was a beginner

1.didnt know wtf i was doing so i just went random places and did the machines

2.doing the same things every day

3.just had no clue on what i was doing...i had this mindset that the more i did the more buff id get...thats bad

4.staying there to long you really only need to stay there an hour tops if your beginning, unless you have this amazing weightlifting plan then well do what you want

    5. i know this doesnt pertain to the gym but not eating right...if you dont eat right you wont get where you want to be...when i started i would go to mcdonalds afterwards and eat like 5 double cheeseburgers lol...dont do that

    6. bad form if your doing free weights...and also doing to much weight that you cant handle cuz you wanna show off or whatever

    Mistakes people make:-

Throwing themselves into the workouts with real gusto so they end up hurting themselves / exhausted the next day which puts them off going back.

Thinking that "No pain, no gain" applies - it doesn't.

Lifting too high a weight because they don't feel anything much with the lower weight.

Not giving enough rest time between weights sessions - some muscles require 48hrs to recover, others require even longer.

Getting stuck in a rut and wondering why they aren't improving.

Getting on the machine and not pushing themselves - when say, level 10 for 30minutes gets easy - go to level 11 for 40minutes.

Going to the gym with their friend - which is fine - but they they spend ages chatting and not working out to their full capacity.

Doing your workout - and then treating yourself to a slice of cake in the gym diner afterwards!! Fine once a week yet some women at my gym do this everyday and woder why they're not getting smaller!

Typical beginner mistakes, well many guys after their first intro onto gym go hardcore since day one (those without trainers) and end up realizing a couple of things the hardway.1 you need to start with light weight til your body and muscles get use to being exercised. 2 treat your muscles as groups ex: Chest should be worked one day, back another day and so on.3. Not taking protein can cause muscle not to grow . 4 not drinking plenty of water ,water is essential 5. add some cardio to your workouts. ok you get the idea ,surely if theres something I left out any of the guys will be sure to point out on any of the responses you will be getting.

Lifting too much weight and having bad form.

Over training certain muscles i.e. Biceps which are only relatively small muscles so should only be worked out once or twice a week and under training other less aesthetic muscles like those in the legs.

alot of common begannier mistakes are..

    1. people training the same muscles every visit to the gym

2.people doing too much volume in a workout.. more then one hour of lifting is too much in one session

    3. people training each muscle 3 times a week.. that is too much wear and tear on the muscle.. not enough rest time for it to grow

    4. people lifting weights that are too easy for them, doing more then 12 reps too easy...

Think as working out as each session u do different muscles, workout each muscle once a week.

do your abs every other day...

do a combination of machines and free weights..

make sure u are eating enough proteins to allow muscles to grow and repair.. and good carbs for energy...

    neccesary supplments

    whey protein

    glutamine

    vitamins

    additional bonus supplments

    creatine

    nitric oxide

Before doing any type of exercise all do some warm-ups first. Follow the instructors advice and don't act like you know it all. Thats about it. Oh and when you have a shower always wear a pair of sandals or something , you don't want to pick up fungus or something. Enjoy.:)

Using bad form, and don't be afraid to ask the employees there questions, that is what they are there for. Be sure and do a mix of cardio and strength for all around fitness

Use proper form on all exercises, start off lifting light weight until you have proper form.

Oh and don't do curls in the squat rack

a lot of people try to do too much at once and then they suffer the consequences after...such as muscle strains and then that puts them off going back again...just do things on a moderate level, don't over do it and you will be just fine
