Don't think it would help. I've got friends who are finishing degrees and still speed. You'd also be disqualifying potentially good drivers from driving aswell, as a lot of young people would rather do an apprenticeship or go straight into full time work than A levels. Unfortunately, only increasing the police presence on the roads or increasing the amount of speed cameras would help, and I don't think the latter idea would get much support.

I wouldn't bother telling your MP this idea. It may sound good, but once you actually think about it, you may find some downsides to it.

On a different note, I think it's really harsh that just because you've seen one young guy with a cap speeding, all young men with caps should be punished. I saw a man in his thirties or forties the other week speeding. He had brown hair and a son and a daughter. If your logic were applied, all men with brown hair and a daughter and son should be banned. It just doesn't make sense.

If you think that having A levels has anything to do with the way people drive, why are so many judges, lawyers, and politicians caught speeding (and drunk driving?).

The only solution is scare tactics - huge fines and long driving bans. But most loonies aren't worried about whether they have a licence (or whether they own a car since they can easily be "borrowed").

what exactly would you describe as a chav? i dropped out of school with no qualifications, i wear tracksuits and baseball caps but i have been driving since i was 17 (3 years ago), i keep to speed limits and all other driving laws aswell, does that mean that i should get banned just because i am a young motorist with no qualifications?

The next time you see something like that try to get a license plate number from the vehicle and report it to the police. Let them know you would like to sign the citation for the driver. It will just be your word against his in court but you should be able to articulate it well enough.

I think adding a Psychology Test to the driving exam might help.

That should show whether a young chap would turn into a demented fool when driving.
