Most anxiety comes from your inner thoughts because your thoughts create your feelings.

When you feel anxious at work, what thoughts are going through your mind? "I'm going to look stupid."? "Everyone is judging me."? When you start to have this inner dialogue, take a step back and listen. Are the thoughts you are having valid?

When you start to listen to your inner dialogue, you may be able to find what is truly bothering you. Think about it. What is the worst thing that could happen at work? Is it 'screwing up'? If so, do not look at it as 'screwing up', look at it as making a mistake. We all make mistakes, but it doesn't make us any less of a person, it makes us MORE of a person. You need to make some mistakes at work and in life in order to learn and grow.

Are you worried about people judging you? If so, think about what that means to you. What are the advantages and disadvantages of believing in this notion. Write them down on a list (you can do this for any idea or thought you may be having right now). I'm sure once you start to create a list, you will find more cons with having this thought. For example, if you are constantly worried about being judged, your work performance may decline, your self-esteem/confidence will diminish, and you will start to doubt yourself. These are just some of the negative side effects that may occur.

I, myself, have anxiety, but it has gotten better since I've started to catch my inner dialogue. Once you start to evaluate these thoughts, you can get rid of those negative, inaccurate ones.

Do not label yourself as an 'idiot'. Define this term and I'm sure you will see that you are nowhere near an 'idiot'. We all mess up, and we're all learning. Just take it one step at a time.

Congratulations on your first job! Don't let those thoughts get you down. Relax. Take a breath. Do your best.

First thing you have to do with a job, the most important and easiest thing is BE ON TIME. You also want to make sure you are not taking a bunch of time off work either...you have to pay your dues so-to-speak....just relax, the person who hired you knows your age and abilities and would not have hired you if they didn't think you could pull it off....they will probably be very linient the first week, they will let you find your groove.....do not ever pretend like you know something when you don't ...just ask someone....you will probably meet someone you like in the first couple days that you can run questions and concerns by.....and of course people will be staring at you for the first few days because you are the new girl! they are just looking out of curiosity...the guys will probably be checking you out....just be cool...try to remain laid back and keep your ears open....if the info starts coming too fast, keep a little note pad in your back pocket...best of luck to ya and congrats on the new job!

Take a deep breath. Relax. And know that everyone has to start somewhere. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Better to do it now while people know you are new. In no time the job will be second nature.

I'm sure people are watchin and juding that's just life. Don't take anything personal unless they say it straight up. They could b lookin past u neways. Try going out with large crowds and meetin new people that should kill ur nerves. U have 2 try though. GOOD LUCK.
