For multiple cat owners- can you tell the difference between your cat's meows?

Do you recognize their little kitty-cat voices?

One of mine has a quiet little voice that only ever progresses into a "whine" when he's hungry. The other one's voice is as clear as a bell and there's no mistaking what he wants or what's wrong.

Even with 14 cats, I can absolutely 100% tell who's talking and why without seeing them.

Even more interesting, I can have one pet in the dark or eyes closed, not even a full head to tail pet, just a quick back pet, and tell you who I'm petting.

    Meow!

Yes.. they each have very distinctive meows. In fact, since they each have distinctive meows, I call each of them in a different tone of voice. There's the generic, "Here kittykittykittykittykitty!"... but when one or two of them does not show up, I call, "kitty kitty" in the specific tone that I have for the specific cat I am calling.

Yes, I think you can tell cats meows apart. We have 4 inside outside cats, only 2 are the same age. Even those 2 I can tell apart. Its the same way with kids, one can cry, you know which one it is, good or bad cry and just how long you got till the cry gets louder. lol

Yes! I grew up with 3 cats! I could hear a meow in the distance and know who it was, and I got to the point that I could tell what they wanted/ what situation they were in. There were pissed meows, hungry meows, attention wanting meows, curious meows, etc.

I have 2 cats and a kitten. I can usually tell the difference between them but I think I have been wrong about it. They are all long haired cats. One is a persian mix and the other 2 are domestic long hairs. I can't always tell what they want. It's usually food but the kitten wants to be petted and picked up. She's needy. But my other cats are needy too. They don't want to be picked up but they do want to be petted or combed.

My husband is amazed and has even tested me on this. I can tell not only which cat it is but what the cat wants or is saying. I have 8 little buggers and I only miss once in a while.

My oldest female has a meow that sounds more like "braow" while my male sounds more like a mewing. My other male sounds like a little girl kitty lmao.

Of course. I have 3 cats and they have very distinctive voices. I can also recognise the voices of about 6 cats in the neighbourhood, that I either feed or belong to my neighbours.

my cat has the same meow for everything. the only reason i can tell what she wants is where she is at. if she is at the door, she wants to go outside. if she's in the kitchen, she wants food. simple as that i guess.
