A food that is designed for certain dogs can still lack proper nutrients if it's just a poorly-made food. If it's Science Diet, Eukanuba, Iams, or anything like that, chances are she is not receiving the proper nutrition.
Also, such foods are so low-quality can be hard to digest. Many of the materials just pass right through their system, resulting in a poop that tastes an awful lot like the original kibble.
If the food's bad, too, she might still be hungry even if she's supposedly getting the proper amount. Such kibble usually has less of the good stuff in each morsel, so they have to eat more. The pieces are often just air-puffed.
It isn't at all unusual for puppies to eat their waste -- gross, yes, and definitely weird to us, but not uncommon. Since she's so young, it could be a leftover behavior from watching her mom. Dog mothers eat their puppies' waste because instinctually, they're "hiding the evidence" of puppies from potential predators, thus protecting their babies.
Puppies are curious little things. They don't know better than to not eat poop, so hey, they try it, and it doesn't taste all that bad to them, so why not do it?
Is she housetrained yet? If she still has accidents and you punish her improperly for eliminating in the house, she might be eating the poo to hide the evidence from you. This might be happening if she thinks you're punishing her for FINDING the poo, not for her pooing the first place. You must correct the dog no more than TWO SECONDS after the act; any longer and they just won't connect the punishment with the event. They live in the present, so if you freak out when you /find/ poo, the dog may try to prevent you finding it by going in "hiding places" or by removing the evidence -- eating it.
Does she like to carry the poo before eating it? She's a lab, and they've got strong retrieving instincts. Retrievers often like to hold stuff in their mouths, so that might contribute.
When you visit the vet, please make sure she doesn't have worms or parasites. Those could also be the culprits, sucking out nutrition and leaving the dog feeling hungry and unhealthy.
Once the coprophagia (poo-eating) is a real habit, it can be almost impossible to break.
The most important thing to do is clean up after her immediately! Yes, that might be annoying, but would you rather spend thirty seconds removing the poo, or her to have /the/ dirtiest mouth?
You might need to reconsider what food you're feeding her.
Try making the poo taste bad. Try adding a spoonful or so of pineapple or pineapple juice to each meal; it tastes good on the way down, but not the way back up. Canned pumpkin might work, too. (Canned pumpkin also firms the stools, which can be handy if she has loose, messy poops.)
Any time she approaches poo, immediately intervene. Make a loud noise to startle her out of the behavior, and distract her with something better than waste, like a game. Reward her for staying away from the poo. If you see her look at it but not go over to it, reward her!
A good diet will go a long way in preventing coprophagia. My pup was fed Canidae All Life Stages.. he avoided his stools like the plague, and still does. He just doesn't like poop.

When a dog eats its own poop it means it eats fast and doesn't digest its food fully nothing bad will happen to your dog. If you want your dog to stop eating its poop all you have to do is put some chunks of pineapple in her food and it will make her poop taste bad to her and she wont want to eat it any more and try to make your dog eat slower by putting a little bit of food in then right after she's done eating put a little more in until your dog has eaten the recommended amount.

The reason why puppies eat their own poop is because dogs don't fully digest their food, so they can still she some nutrients in the poop. So some will eat it as a snack.
That is a very bad habit because poop is filled with bacteria.
One way is to feed your dog pineapple. It gives a very bad smell when digested, and the poop won't smell so good to your puppy anymore. Hopefully, she will think twice before eating it.

There are actually a number of reasons why a dog might be eating it's own poop. It can even be caused by stress/anxiety, or it could be something physically wrong with them. They might also just like the taste.
Call your vet about it to be safe.

Just a thought? Clean up the poop before the dog eats it? I know it's a lot to ask.

It is very common for dogs to eat their own poop. I don't really have any suggestions for you. I just wanted you to know it's a common thing.

Brands like Pedigree, Science Diet, Iams, etc are actually very bad foods. If you check the ingredients, by-products, corn, gluten, salt, and other fillers are VERY bad for your dog. Check http://dogfoodproject.com/ and http://dogfoodanalysis.com/ for reviews on your current brand and what brands to purchase.
Dogs generally eat their poop because they lack nutrients. Spray her poop with citronella/bitter apple spray from the store or sprinkle lemon juice on it. Or you can make her eat some pineapple. Dogs do not like the taste of it and it will make her poo taste bad.

My theory is that it's the intelligent puppies who do this. They watch their mothers cleaning out the nest and they copy her.
I cannot understand why puppies and older dogs think that poo is palatable. If you liquidize tinned pineapple or fresh courgettes and mix a small amount in with her food she will find that her poo is distasteful and stop eating this.

my lab is 6 years old and she eats her poop to! it is actually good for them because apparently the poop has protein in it for the dogs!

It is a very common thing. Try feeding her pinapple, when digested pinapple is "supposed" to taste awful. You can also give her pinapple juice. Try that first, and if that doesnt work, then you can try 100% natural cannen pumpkin.
