She's old, and hopefully she's been checked by a vet in the last year. If not, she needs to be. At this age, she will definitely have dental disease if you've not had dental work done on her in the past, there's no two ways about that. The fact that she only wants wet food now could be a sign that her mouth is really starting to hurt her.

She could have several problems, they get more and more likely the older the animal gets. Hope she's not too overdue for a vet check!

Cats are carnivores and have no use for fiber so do not pay any attention to the first uneducated answer. Canned foods are much better for cats then dry food. As they get older it is even more imperative as dry foods starts to dehydrate cats causing many problems.

There is no reason that you cannot open a can for her before bed. That should solve the problem

Born in '92 that will make her 16 yrs old and that equals 80 yrs in cat years. she been easy to care for. her problem might be her age is catching up to her and maybe her body is ailing her in different parts this includes the mind/brain, pets are like people the older we get the more the body hurts and our minds start to slip. Unfortunately they can speak to us and she may be telling you in yowls some thing is bothering her. ask any one over 60 if their body aches and i'm sure they will tell you yes.

You should take her to the vet. She may have a bad tooth. Think about it, she doesn't want to eat very much dry food, cries all night, etc. She's a pretty old kitty, her teeth may be deteriorating because of age.

She may not be getting enough fiber in the food.

    you can add fiber.

feed Can food w/ dry added before going to bed.

I also give my cat cooked chicken livers (she purrs while she eats) they seem to really make her full!

you can add human B vitamines by crushing them up and sprinking them on the food.

    good luck.

did you take her to the vet to see if there is a problem?
