What's the best way to chop frozen cranberries?

I live near cranberry bogs, and always have frozen cranberries on hand. I was going to make cranberry orange muffins. So what is the best way to chop them when they are frozen? My recipe says chopped frozen cranberries.

Update:

Phat woman..that is a good thought. I have a chainsaw..how bout that?

If you're careful with the blender, pulsing it for the shortest pulse you can get, you might get small pieces. I used to use a blender to make cranberry (or strawberry) ice cream. Freeze the fruit and blend - it turns them into powder, not what you want for muffins. (It actually does give an intense flavor, though, so it might be better than chunks - try one batch with cranberry powder.)

I'd go along with the knife before they're frozen if you want chunks.

While they are frozen, smash them with a pan. This will flatten them slightly so they don't roll around. Then chop them up. It won't matter if they are squished because you're chopping them up anyhow right?

let them sit out at room temperature for a bit they will become soft and then use a large knife to chop them, and place them in the freezer again until needed the food processor will puree them if you put them in there.
