Can anyone tell me how I can make a nice meal using smoked Mackerel fillets?

I have 3 smoked Mackerel fillets but I am at a loss to know what to put with them to turn them into a complete meal.

Thanks in advance. ♥

Update:

Bob. You got a thumbs down from someone. They're either Scottish or a Mackerel fan!

Nanny Chris. Nice recipe thanks.

****. Mackerel is too nice to give to a cat and besides, I don't have one!

Oh' God, such a lot of good responses, who to choose........

smoked mackarel fillets are already cooked and and therfore need no treatment or desintegrate if you fry them

Make a kedgeree and crumble them in in the last minute

try this one if you have never done it before and sub haddock for Mack

I assume it's smoked mackerel. Boil up and mash some potatoes,. Mix the fish and pots' together ( add some peas if you like) put into a basin and put a few knobs of butter on top to brown the crust.

Serve with whatever veg' you feel like and squeeze a little lemon on top of the fish/pots' before serving.

Source(s): A nice easy and healthy meal. I cook a lot.

I would suggest if you want something to go on the mackerel a white sauce but pepper and lemon juice works just as good then a side of herb & butter vermicelli pasta, with some fresh salad and garlic bread. Simple but very good.

You can cook some pasta, add some peas at the end of the cooking time, then drain when it's done. Flake the mackerel into the pasta, and stir in a dollop of horseradish sauce and some yogurt/creme fraiche. Add some rocket and serve.

sweat off some onion and garlic in a little oil, add peas, mushrooms and diced pepper.

add rice and stir to coat with oil, then add double the volume of liquid to rice (1 cup rice to 2 cups water)

bring to the boil, add a vegetable stock cube and a teaspoon of curry powder and simmer til the rice is cooked.

flake the mackerel and mix into the cooked savoury rice

serve with wedges of hard boiled egg

easy Kedgeree - delicious and filling

For a quick meal, Mash up the fillets and add to scrambled egg. You shouldn't need to add any salt, but it may need some pepper to taste.

    serve on toasted crusty bread.

    Yum.
