My cat has been scratching so bad that a big spot of fur is gone, HELP?

The spot I refer to is about one inch around and now there is fuzz growing in but before that she had dug so much that it was raw and bleeding.

I do believe she is healing now but what could have caused this when I have two cats that are brother and sister and only one got this condition that I even think may have been brought on by nerves; she is a Siamese.

I used neosporin and peroxide on her and it did help.

Any ideas?

Update:

I have a very high strung, emotional, stressed Siamese cat. She is an indoor cat and has been checked for both fleas and mites; that's not it either.

I did ask my vet if it was okay to use very small amounts of peroxide on it when it was a wound, and he agreed but since it has healed, I haven't put anything on it but she still keeps digging at herself and I'm thinking allergy or her high stress behavior.

Any other ideas?

Yes, I plan to take her to the vet soon but until then I thought maybe this winter in the Midwest came on so late that maybe other cats were also possibly suffering from skin allergies that normally they don't.

I would take her to the vet if it recurs, it could be mange or mites or something. Or it could be behavioural.

It might be fleas. Check her fur and you will see them right away crawling all around her. And if you see black specs, that is flea dirt. If she does have fleas take her to the vet and they will give you flea medication.

If she's scratching her ears and face, it might be ear mites. Take her to the vet and get her checked out.

If you live in the U.S. there is a mobile vet clinic that provides low cost vaccinations and medications in 23 states.

It could also be food allergies. Try giving her cat food that has no corn, wheat, or soy.

    It could also be stress.

It can be nerves but from my experience it may be fleas..peroxide is a definite no no..to use on your cat..i would bring this up with the veterainien she may be allergic to fleas, and may just need Revolution which would kill the larva and stop them from nesting in her..make an appointment with the vet im sure they can diagnose it better then anyone here":)

CHECK HER FOR FLEES if it around her head thenit could be ear mites inside her ears if you can see black spots in her ears..that is earmites ...anywhere else on her body then look for flees and if there are black specks that is flee droppings....or it could be an allergy......if it does not clear up or she starts scatching again then take her to the vet........GOOD LUCK

    could be an allergy.

DO NOT USE PEROXIDE or neosproin on a cat... they lick themselves and peroxide kills skin cells.

Try to see if she has flea dirt in her fur... might be fleas.

sounds like she is over whatever caused it.

camomile tea put on an itchy spot will calm it.
